Are there any laptops or even desktops under £300, that would be able to run Skyrim. If so which ones? Pounds not dollars btw. Thanks.
my flatmate just got a Dell XPS 15 - 2.4ghz i5 (boost to 3ghz), 3GB ram, nvidia GT 525m for £400 from their Outlet (i.e. refurbed or scratch n dent stock). It's not arrived yet, but I'm anticipating it running at around medium settings based on my old desktop specs and how that runs Skyrim. (dell.co.uk/outlet)
I've spent many hours searching over the last couple of weeks, and that is the best deal I've found by far for a laptop.
As the posters above said, a desktop may be cheaper - I've just priced up a potential replacement for myself:
AMD FX-4 4100 Black Edition 4 Core 3.6Ghz Socket AM3+ 8MB L3 Cache Asus M5A78L/USB3 AMD Socket AM3+ 8 Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL9 1.5V unbuffered Coolermaster Elite 330 Case With Coolermaster eXtreme Power 500W PSUcomes to a total of £230.24 @ebuyer.com - then it's just a matter of choosing a hard drive (~£100 for 2TB, cheaper/smaller options available) and a gfx card that suits your pocket and preference (think I'll go with a GTX 550 ti for < £100, though you should be able to find a cheaper card that plays skyrim fine, as CPU speed is king on this game).
hope this helps,
