Cheaters, Hackers and Modders..

So, obviously Brink isn't going to cater to the people who just want to run around and play COD-style. It's only a matter of time before people get fed up with getting little to no XP for kills, and start hacking their way through the game.

What measures has Splash Damage taken to get rid of these little bastards? Does SD have a plan for dealing with them?

I haven't heard anything about their security measures. And to be honest, thats a good thing. If they tell us about their security measures the less honest of our community will already know what they are up against and have like 4 weeks to prepare for it.

So yeah all in all its a good thing we don't know (assuming they will do stuff, which they will after all being a hardcoe PC dev they will want it to be hack-proof)

On the other side of things, the huge rewards you get form actually doing an objective should give those cod-style players insentive to stop playing that way and do the proper play style for this game.

I actually think this game will be a great re-education tool for many newer gamers who don't even know what the word objective means.

And the Steam Cloud Support should prevent bad guys to modify savegames.

Also I rather enjoy hunting these kind of people and ruining their game the way they ruin everyone's but with skill not cheats.

yea i am afriad of that but how the movements work i can promise u guys that speed hacks fly hacks and jump hacks will not be found. simple hacks like unlimited ammo seem like they will be a no brainer and hard to detect.

Well at least it will keep "those people" out of Brink.

Well, maybe if some do cross over, it will be for the better and they will realize how bad a game the newer Call Of Duties are (due to coding), and become good members of the BRINK community.

For years I always wondered why developers wouldn't just put in simple skill/minute, score/minute, accuracy, etc, checks on players to just filter off the blatant hackers. It's incredibly easy to do.

Have you ever made a game? I doubt anything in the game making business is "incredibly easy to do."

Using massive profits to buy a toilet made of solid gold seems pretty easy to me.

And that's definitely a critical part of the game development process...

No because the solid gold toilet would have many many problems. Gold is not the material you would be wanting to use, its heavy and can tarnish real easily. Not to mention how much gold a solid gold toilet would incorporate. That and toilets aren't solid -obvious troll is obvious- Most toilets tend to have holes in them for plumbing.

That's true also. I guess the developers will just have to settle for a large pile of money to sleep on - similar to a dragon or other such mythical beast. I'll get the scientists working on this solid gold toilet dilemma and probably have something for you next week. Have your people talk to my people.
