Chest Inventory Lists Are Ridiculous

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 1:38 pm

Sorting is a mess. Nothing is grouped together and now for some reason if I take something and put it back it doesn't even go to the same spot. If I had the arch mage robes in my wardrobe and it was the 23rd item, when I take it and put it back it's like some of the items get randomized again.

Most of my Dragon Priest masks are actually near eachother, but there's one that's way further down near the bottom. Wtf?

Why?

I miss OB. Sorting by category, weapons, armor/clothing, crafting, and misc, is apparently something Skyrim's new game engine can't handle lol

Beth has took some steps forward with skyrim but a few steps back with parts of it. Absolute nightmare to find stuff out your storage box. Plus putting one item in your home and it explodes in the air when you come back in, slightly off topic but still wtf when oblivion did these absolutley fine.

This is why I don't put EVERYTHING in the chests. Instead, I use other containers to sort out my crap.

e.g. clothes go in the wardrobe, weapons in the chest, alchemy ingredients in the drawers and special items such as dragon priest masks in the safe in solitude.

Hi there mates!

I wouldn't call Sorting ridiculous but non-existent.
Yes it would be nice to be able to sort items out by different criteria. It easily gets cumbersome to go through a 50 plus list of potions and the otherwise neat Favourites feature is not really a viable alternative. I'm sure they're tweaking the interface and will revamp it for the upcoming DLC.

My 2 cents.

I'm sure you put too much faith in Bethesda. They will ignore the UI along with at least 50% of the bugs.

Skyrim's Engine can handle it. Thing is the game's abit of a .. okay it's a console port, that's why, but there are good mods for it on PC.

The engine thing was a joke. I don't see what the port thing has to do with any of it. Consoles need inventory sorting even more then pcs do to limits of the controllers.

I doesn't sort things alphabetically. I keep all weapons in my bedroom chest, all apparel in my wardrobe and everything else in my drawer in Vlindrel Hall.

Reading the title i was expecting this to be about how very hard locked chests have 8 gold and a minor healing potion :lmao:

I think there is a bug in the sorting code. When I started out it was alphabetical order but eventually that broke. Maybe I got too many items for the game to process order?

The chest in the breezehome lab area is sorted alphabetically, that's why i keep my ingredients in it...for some strange reason the 1 in your bedroom isn't
Also the cuboard right outside the lab room is sorted alphabetically as well, i keep all my potions in it but you can put anything in it

Again this is one of the things that make me think they either didn't give themselves enough time or they paid too much attention to making everything look shiny.

It seems like a small complaint to some but I really like organisation!

any inventory mod helps with this. The better sorting mod helps group things together but changes the name of a lot of stuff.

If your on console your screwed.

Yeah I really don't understand why they got rid of the sorter for Chests, even Oblivion had that feature and the UI for that game was horrible late game.
