Children?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:05 am

Do you think children will have a smaller or larger role in NV? Will they be damn near immortal, like in FO3?

What if there was an option to have a kid? Not likely through the normal means, but perhaps adoption? Finding some lone little girl dying of starvation out in the wastes? Another Bryan Wilks?

Would you adopt?

They'll probably be about the same as FO3, which means I still want to kill them all. No I wouldn't adopt, that kid isn't mine, I want to make my own. :)

Would be nice idea for a follower.

A kid prodigy that helps the slightly drooling type of hero with the more technical gizmos, like forks.

Yea, i would really like the adoption part. You raise it as your own and you build it's Skills and stuff... Would Be awesome! like 1 week in game would be 1 year.

They're obviously going to be immortal. The governments and such won't allow child killing in their games anymore. I don't see why not, as it's just a game and there's far worse in others.

Hopefully if they're immortal they won't be so... killable this time around.

No. I don't want children in my F:NV experience, especially those involved in force-greets. I don't want to have kids and I don't want to be able to adopt them either. I can't see that one would be very useful as a follower either.

If children can't be killed, they shouldn't be appearing.

Remember Little Lamplight? Apart from that location making even less sense than Tenpenny Tower, it had some really bad writing, voice acting and gameplay. I'm a ruthless murderer with power armour that can crush kiddie skulls with its fists, yet the game place a magical invincibility spell on them, forcing me to jump through hoops for them, instead of shooting my way through or letting Paradise Falls in.

I swear by all that's good on Olympus, Beth made sure we really, really would hate those brats.

I'd like to see some options for children in FONV with various situations where they don't make you want to kill them. Adopting, some minor quests and such would be nice. I swear just about every kid i met in FO3 was a disrespectful little brat. I don't care how old you are you shouldn't badmouth the most evil chick in the wasteland. As for Bryan Wilks he was just odd i mean really the kid was dumber than a rock.

All i can say is i'm glad you can have mods. I went there with my evil character and sold every single one of the little brats into slavery.

It boggles my mind why they bothered making them invincible when they just knew people would make mods to make them killable. I'm still surprised to hear that fallout 1 and 2 had killable children although i seriously doubt that will be the case in FONV. Even if the Obsidian guys are willing to take sharpnel in the media for it i doubt Bethesda is.

If they add in proper consequences for childkilling, then I don't see why. In the original Fallout, children were vulnerable just like any kind of NPC. It wasn't a feature, just a simple truth - children can die. Of course, killing them branded you as a child killer and pretty much the entire wasteland hates you from that point onward.

It's a gameplay discussion. Obviously, no one condones killing children in real life here.
