Chillrend, the only truely elemental weapon in Skyrim.

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:23 pm

I'm just wondering if there's more folks out there than just me hoping for more weapons in the DLC that reflect the elegance of Chillrend? it's steamy frost seems to bee the only true representation of an elemental weapon in the whole game, I'm really not a big fan of the runes at all. Anyone else looking for this and if you are what are some of your hopes?

Chillrend has been around for at least 200 years so who knows if there any more weapons of its nature. I for one hope there are.

Yeah I was kinda disapointed that they didn't upgrade the enchantments in this new TES. I expected that when a weapon had ice damage it would look like Chillrend, or lightening would have something akin to electricity arching over the surface of the weapons blade. On the fire enchanted weapon they could just make it glow hot red or white.

Something other then just he standard glow effect weve had for the last 3 TES games.

I think Dragonbane has that electric look you are looking for.

What he said :o

But yeah, I'd love for enchanting effects to be more visual than lighted up random patterns in the darkened area of the Weapon or Apparel.
being how it is, I refrain from using Enchanted Items because I find it annoying to see this random solid inner glow of the shape of my weapon when i'm in a Dark area :|

In addition to the Fire enchantment affect of it being Red or white hot, It would be cool to see the wavy steam coming off of it like most fire in Skyrim now :D
but I think it just being slightly on Fire would be a better affect with the steam.

I agree with you

The reason they didnt do so, as far as I am aware is that different enhanced effects create light pools and this would make it harder for sneak characters to stay undetected while using them. Imagine if you will a flame sword burning away like a torch, a sneak character would be visable easily to the AI. At least thats my understanding of it.

They couldn't make it too extreme because the weapons are always up in your face in first person and it could obscure visibility. Pull out a couple of conjured swords in a dark area too see this in action. I can barely see anything because they are too bright. The effects could stand to be better though.

This^. Especially with dual wielding. Your peripheral vision is already restricted enough in first person with DW as it is, even while only using daggers. You'd be nearly blind if flames or fog were pouring off of them in. At least in first person anyway. Maybe in 3rd it wouldn't be so bad.

Nah, a good example is the ebony mail, it effects your line of sight in 1st and 3rd.Even more so when sneaking
Chillrend is still a really nice lookins sword( I think it looks better this time round  ) and the "fog" effect is a nice touch, but it's more of a decoration IMO and it has been since Oblivion, mostly due to the fact that later on in your game you will be able to create better stuff on your won.

I always liked the enchanted weapons in the first fable. A sword covered in flames would look sweet as :D

What about Dawnbreaker? Thats the most firey-burney-hothothot weapon in the game.
Especially with its explodey effect on undead.

Well they beat me too it. Dawnbreaker.... which by the way does make it really hard to sneak.
