I imagine you could direct the new GECK to the appropriate files in the Fallout 3 folder, sure.

Unless it's an Oblivion to Fallout 3-type upgrade to the models, but it doesn't look like it, as there's a lot of reused assets in New Vegas. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Possibly if you have the pc version. However, a sniper with a suppressor would be likely since the weapon mod kits are in the game.

You can do a CSS with the G.E.C.K. but if you port it from F3 your mod is illegal

Edit: It's Beth's policy not to allow any mods of any kind with assets ported from one game to another even if Beth made them

That of course only applies if you are planning to distribute your mod.

As long as you lawfully own both games and don't release it there's nothing illegal. It'd be no different than swapping the engine from one car into the chassis of another one.

Not that I plan on porting anything. NV will still have the stealth field effect, I can just add it to whatever NV outfit I want, rig a script to detect if the player is sneaking and trigger it like that..

... AND you distribute the actual asset with it. This is the actual beef with "crossmods", not the mod itself.

Personally I would say that no matter what difficulty level you set it to, using the Chinese Stealth Suit effectively means that even Very Hard is basically Easy Mode, mainly as while the concept of the CSA wasn't too bad, the way it was implemented meant that it was too powerfull.

The CSS made Stealth a good play for me and if I wasn't careful I'd get swarmed and killed because of my low HP scores

I'd rather not have anything like that again though, kinda broke the stealth section of the game and made stealth-boys useless.

while I do agree that it did kinda break the difficulty level, I didn't mind it one bit. It would be equally easy to do those things in real life if you could cloak up like that.

It really does break the difficulty, though. I'm able to beat Broken Steel on VH at level 12 with a DR of about 6 or 7 using a stealth wire from a mod(CSS cloak without the CSS model, basically), and I svck at FPS games.

I would rather not see anything like the Chinese Stealth Suit in FNV to be honest. I completely agree with those saying it made the game far too easy no matter what difficulty you had the game set to. It was even more ridiculous paired with silenced weapons as you could just shoot at enemies without them ever fighting back. The Chinese Stealth Suit is just the "100% Chameleon" of Fallout 3.

This is what I was getting at. :)

You'd need both games to play such a mod, but there's no reason why telling the new GECK to look in the old folders wouldn't work.

I mean, as long as you don't distribute Bethesda assets, there's nothing illegal or against the EULA being done.

Stealth boys are going to be part of the game I'm sure, so at worst you could attach a script to an existing set of armor that applied the stealth field effect - maybe a custom skinned version of that desert combat armor with the gas mask.

Just for starters. . .
Chems are diferent in the game
Weapons are diferent in this game (the sniper rifle and silencer are now mods you apply to a weapon for just one thing, thats not counting the change to weapon degridation and repair)
you would need to code in a way to give an actual scoped weapon to the handfull of snipers
probably even the faction reactions and how the game handles it is completly diferent.

Heck even the skillbooks are probably diferent. Saftest thing would be to replace each skillbook with a comprable skill magazine.
Probably have to do the same with weapons, replace all existing references with the new Vegas weapons

Yeah. I was talking about the models and textures. Which, y'know, appear to be of an identical format and should therefore be theoretically backwards-compatible. :)

Meh. It was a cool gimmick, and then I realized it was over powered. I like to have a challenge. Same reason I don't use power armor.

The stealth suit is awesome, I agree. Especially for Point Lookout's tough crowd of inbreds and super ghoul reavers. In FNV, there's the "NightKin" Super Mutants, who I think have the ability to go invisible, so maybe there's some way to steal that power and use it for yourself without mods?
