Civil War Quests

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 2:37 pm

I'm having trouble completing the Civil War. I have completed all of the Main Quest and in Season Unending I gave the Imperials Riften. I think that is why the Civil War quest line is out of order. This is how it is fir me. Any help would be alsome. Thanks!
1. Joining the Stormcloaks

2. The Jagged Crown

3. Message to Whiterun

4. Battle for Whiterun

5. Rescue From Fort Neugrad

6. A False Front (Stormcloaks)

7. The Battle for Fort Snowhawk - This where I have trouble. Can't Join the Men and the Fort is empty.

8. The Battle For Fort Greenwall - I have made it this far before but same thing, so i just reloaded an old save.

I'm having the same issue with fort Sungard. No Stormcloaks to meet and no Imperials at the fort.

I've reloaded my previous save 10 times and it's always the same way. After I speak to Galmar Stone-Fist, I get the mission but I don't get the marker for where I'm suppose to meet the other soldiers. If I go to where they are suppose to be, the objective updates saying I completed the "meet the men" part even though they aren't there. Then the fort is empty.

I've got 410 hours into this game at level 54 and this is the first time I haven't been able to work around a glitch. I've tried everything.

That sounds like the same issue. I have even gone back to a save before the Season Unending quest and tried to go down the Imperial quest line and nothing works. I hope this is fixed in 1.4. Does someone have a trick to get past this?

I cant complete 'Message to whiterun' at all. The option to give the axe to the Jarl Balgruff doesn't appear when talking to him :/
Hoping for fix soon as I really dont want to have to create a new character just to do this questline...

Same. Never happened before. MQ done before joining. And as before i gave Markath to Stormcloaks and Dawnstar,Winterhold to Imperials. Before 1.4 it was all ok.

I posted this a fair while ago, but I think it got buried in all the venting threads:

Anyone having the issue of Stormcloaks or Imperials not showing up at designated forts might like to try the following. Can't guarantee that it will work for you but it *seems* to do the trick for me:

1. Before talking to Legate Rikke, find out the fort that she will send you to (you will have to talk to her to locate the fort she will send you to, then reload to before you talk to her for the quest proper)
2. Travel to the designated fort, approach the Stormcloak soldiers within and hang around until they become hostile.....then run away until you are undetected. Do not engage them in battle.
3. Return to Legate Rikke and speak to her (you may have to do this several times until the "reporting for duty" option appears) to get the quest.
4. Travel back to the required fort's quest marker.

I've had the issue of soldiers not appearing on 3 successive forts, and each time I did the above everything ran as it should have. Met the Imperials, Stormcloaks spawned, quest completed.

Not saying this will work for everyone, and it's a pain in the behind, but it may work for at least some people.

Cheers

This is what's preventing me from getting my platinum trophy. Specifically at Fort Greenwall. I have a save right before I talk to Galmar, so it's been reloaded numerous times. I read that I could go into Riften and hit Maven while she sleeps to advance the quest, which it does, BUT if I start the next task to go outside of Solitude, Galmar won't give me the trigger phrase to continue the quest from there. I can't do the Solitude (and what I guess would be final) part of the Civil War questline.

I'm having problems with that questline as well. I'm stuck on the "Compelling Tribute" quest! Legate doesn't have the dialog to trigger that quest and visit Anuriel. I have reloaded saves numerous times, but the only dialog I get is "why do you fight for the Imperials".

I actually managed to get through the whole civil war quest. But it wasn't easy and not very enjoyable. I think I did almost every single quest in it at least 5 to 10 times. Not fun.

One thing I found to work sometimes when needing to report for your next orders is to wait until night time. Don't ask me why but it worked. Someone else suggested it to me and I tried it. Just make sure you get the map marker or else the men won't be there. If you do get the map marker after getting your orders, SAVE before you head there incase the fort is empty. At least you will have saved with the map marker.

The problem I had most was that the enemie would dissapear when I got them down to about 5% left. Don't know why. I started taking my time (it's hard to kill me anyway) and making sure I didn't let too many enemies spawn. It seemed like they would dissapear when I let too many of them spawn. And they usually spawn from a few different areas. Peck them off as they come out and then move to the next one.

Or wait a week for the patch. I believe they have fixed most of the civil war issues.

I didn't have any trouble with the Civil war quest line & I think it's because I stopped the Main quest line before the part you return to read the scroll. I read on the forum people having so many problems because they started Season Unending, so I picked a side & followed it to conclusion. I never got the Season Unending quest, but considered that a small sacrifice compared to platinuming.

I didn't do Season Unending either. I did the civil war all the way through without doing anything in between. I think my problem was that I did most of the other questlines already and there is just so much going on with the civil war. I should have done it earlier while my save size was still small.

Well, here is a weird one...I finally got the "reporting for duty" dialog, and instead of sending me to the next quest, which should have been "Compelling Tribute", she skipped that one and the next, "The Battle For Fort Greenwall" and sent me to "Rescue from Fort kastav". Maybe I'll get to play those quests in my next character... I think what caused this was that while trying to get the "reporting for duty" dialog, I decided to pay a little visit to Fort greenwall, I was gonna leave before hostilities broke out, (I promise), but one of the Stormcloacks sent an arrow my way, and then thay all rushed me...I called in my dragon buddy, and in less thsn 30 seconds, there was toasted Stormcloacks laying everywhere. I reloaded an earlier save, returned to the boss and got the correct dialog, but it skipped over two quests. They aren't in the completed quests either. Was a lot of fun though...

Has this game changing bug been fixed with 1.4? Not being able to complete the Civil war quest line is hard to swallow.
