Civil war...is uninspired.

Raids, kill stuff, raid more, kill boss, steal one item, free prisoners. Hooray, we Nords took back Skyrim! :intergalactic:

Seriously, Whiterun was the only segment that had large emotional ties. Everything else went downhill after that. I'm on the last 3 parts of joining Ulfrich's faction, does it get any better? Does it have an impact on the MQ?

No and no. Both factions are exact mirrors of each other just moving in opposite directions across the province. It has no effect on the MQ at all and little effect on the world aside from a few NPCs having new dialog.

That isn't totally correct.

Spoiler
The quest where do you have to convince each parts (Ulfric/Tullius) to make a peace treaty for capturing a dragon doesn't exist if you finished the Civil War quests.

Bah, after reading the comments I don't even feel like finishing it. I'll probably just reload an earlier save and take on the MQ from there.

Fair point but I believe the OP was asking if it was worth doing both sides to see how different they are.

I was wondering if there is anything like Whiterun in the later legs of being a Stormcloak. The only reward I'm getting right now is how awesome Stormcloak officer's gear looks. I'm going to enchant one set to replace my fur/scaled mix set. ^

You do Whiterun in both sides' quests. The only difference is which city the final battle takes place in: Solitude or Windhelm.

You'll also find the nords of the losers of the civil war in Sovngarde. (Rikke if you went stormcloak. Ulfric + Galmar if you went Legion)
