CLAN SIDES?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:03 pm

I was wondering if anyone knew if clans will be associated to a particular faction or will matches involve revolving between Resistance/security....

No.

Players individually select their faction. If a clan is a Security or Resistance clan, that is the clan's rule only, and players still have to choose that faction.

To force players to play as a certain faction is, simply put, a dumb idea in a regular game that has little to no clan support.

This game is designed for the randoms and the small groups of players to jump in and play whatever mission as whatever faction at any time. This game isn't geared for the hypercompetitive MLG/clan scene if you have watched any of the developer diary videos.

The only difference between Resistance and Security is appearances of the character, the skins of the guns, and the sounds of the guns. I don't know if MAG had any significant differences between their factions, but with the ability to freely switch factions at any point, I doubt there will be a disproportionally uneven distribution of gamers after a few week's time.

it will be interesting to watch the numbers as the game gathers momentum....
I think I will put my money on more joining the resistance than security....I mean who doesn't want to give it to 'the man'?

wonder if the stats will be published in any way?

As a ps3 user I'll probably use a sub account to play both sides as and when...

You don't join either. One character has 2 separate looks for both factions. Think CoD teams rather than MAG or WoW teams.

Not quite a direct answer here... but they have said they're making a specific community website, a lot like Halo had.
And that will hold all kinds of individual stats and those for the whole community. Specifically stated was which side was 'winning the war'

...So I'm guessing there will be at least some indication somewhere :P

I can understand liking one faction more, but when a clans says "We are a Resistance clan" or "We are a Security clan" I hear them say "We only like to play half of this game."

It wasn't always known that you could switch freely between sides. Most people used to believe (I can't remember if this was what the dev's actually said or just what people assumed) that each character you made could only be on one faction, thus a clan would only be on one faction. Most likely clans that say they belong to a side either haven't updated that info, haven't heard the news, or just really prefer the story of one side over another.

I don't think it would work if clans pick one side only. How would you do stopwatch games then?

For example, security attacks in container city and resistance defends. After one clan/team has attacked, players have to switch sides so previous defenders can try to beat the time set by attackers in the first round.

I believe they wouldn't just switch security team to defend and resistance to attack. Resistance escorting that robot in a container city would look a bit silly.
