Just wondering how much work it would take to implement, or how other people feel about having, an 'Active Members' column in the Ladders. It's early days I realise, but not a lot of clan combat (none, actually) is going on, and as an active clan co-ordinator I'm putting a lot of time and effort into finding and challenging clans. And I've found a few problems that slow up or disable the process.
1 - The clan support module (or Brinkthegame.com in general) doesn't allow me to find out a rival leaders' GamerTag. Was this intentional? The problem I foresee is that a challenge appears awfully formal (and thus might get denied) if it's my first avenue of contact. What I mean by this is: Someone is much more likely to accept a challenge if I can have a little friendly contact first***. Be this an inbuilt message system in the Brinkthegame website, or code to utilise the XBL message system (in vein with Xbox.com). It also isn't as easy to tell that you've been challenged as I feel it should be. As somebody who's really looking to get some numbers on the board, I check My Clan's Challenges at every opportunity. However to date each of my challenges except one (which was denied, see above.) has expired without being Accepted/Denied/Even Noticed!
2 - As I touched on in my opening statement, I feel an Active Members count in the Ladders directory will massively decrease the time spent looking for suitable competitors. Obviously, with only one Leader allowed per clan (Another thing that might be nice - multiple leaders.) most people are trying to form their own so they can hold the power. This, coupled with the fact that no combat has yet taken place, has the effect of entirely flooding the leaderboard with 1-man teams, who - although I wish every budding group the best of luck in becoming a force - are no good to us as competitors just yet.
*** = I can think of two potential fixes for this. Firstly, allow clan leaders (or players in general) to view the GamerTag linked to each Brinkthegame.com account, so I can actively contact people via XBL. Alternatively (if privacy/security's the issue there) allow me to message people via Brinkthegame.com and forward the messages via Xbox Live to their Gamertag.
These problems may work themselves out in time, when things settle down and clans begin to get comfortable trading wins/losses and not being so scared to lose that 100% win ratio. But as the release and shelf life of Brink itself proved, the modern gamer has a short attention span and many other, shiny titles both released and impending. Your core playerbase will probably stick around a while yet, but to retain the flux of potential new fans this update will bring, I urge you to make a few feedback-based tweaks to streamline these novel new inventions - of which I wholly approve!
