A lightly armored, fast moving master swordsman/duelist type that dual-wields swords? Not necessarily a Rogue, but more of a highly offensive/assailant type. Think the way Anakin fought with the twin sabers at the end of episode 2, with the blocking ability of Ganondorf at the end of The Wind Waker. Is this just a swashbuckler or what? For some reason "Swiftblade" keeps coming to mind but maybe that's because of too much time on HoN.

Would just like some input from the D&D vets around here.

If he sneaks: Rogue
If he doesn't: Barbarian

If he sneaks: Rogue
If he doesn't: Barbarian

That's a little too simple for my taste. There's a certain elegance about what I'm describing, and simply because he doesn't sneak doesn't mean he's a Barbarian. It isn't a rogue either. Something more sophisticated and regal.

And clearly neither of you who suggest Barbarian have much range in what something can and can't be, do you? Jaime Lannister isn't a Barbarian, and this is more or less what I'm going for.

I would vote Barbarian, OP said nothing about sneak. Does not matter if it's one handed or dual wield, if he does not sneak and wears light armor he is a barbarian.

Fighter and/or Ranger in D&D.

Drizzt Do'Urden style

Ranger is probably most accurate. They can either specialize in ranged combat or 2 weapon combat.

Probably a specialized rogue.

Definitely not warrior because most of them are either sword and board, or 2Her.

A pure dual wielding class as a D&D archetype is a dervish. Not a Rogue, or Barbarian, or Ranger.

It wasn't JUST because he does or does not sneak. It's that combined with your choice of light armor, dual swords, and the fact that you implied he is more aggressive. A stealthy guy with light armor and twin blades is a rogue. If he just charges in with the same gear it more fits a barbarian style.

Right, I probably gave off the wrong impression. The furthest thing from this style would be a Barbarian. When I think of a Barb I think: Heavy, Smelly, Clunky, Forceful..this is all about finesse, fluidity and elegance. Someone like this would be a very sophisticated member of society and perhaps have an enormous wealth as well as a hunger for the finer pleasures of life, but could eviscerate and dispatch a true barbarian with a simple pivot and flick of the wrist. I hate to make this comparison but think sort of a ...Reaver (Fable) or even Mercer Frey. Thieving and murdering isn't out of the option, but this is more of a traditional duelist type. Even somewhat of a zealot in terms of their battle prowess.

It would seem this one Monkeybiscuit has the right of it this time around.

Duelist is pretty close, they generally go with no armor though

Right, Duelist and Bladesman would be the two most prominent things that come to mind when trying to think of this. God, how I wish you could block/riposte while dual-wielding in Skyrim.

Eh... Not to nitpick but Jaime has never used two swords in any of the books (and I'm kinda glad for that). He fights like a traditional Westerosi knight: in thick steel plate with a one-handed longsword for both blocking and parrying. But yeah, I get your general idea. I've made lightly armored "swordmaster" characters before that focus entirely on mastering the blade and utilizing speed and agility in combat over heavy hitting. Not really into D&D so I can't really put it in those terms.

In D&D terms, your character would be classified as a Swashbuckler or Duelist. Swashbuckler a package type for the Rogue base class that focuses on two-weapon finesse fighting and social skills, rather than being sneaky and utilitarian. Duelist is a package type for Fighters and is pretty much the same as a Swashbuckler, but instead of Diplomacy and Bluff as his social skills, he uses Intimidate.

Yeah maybe he's thinking of Syrio Forel. Although he didn't use 2 swords either but he did fight more like what's described.

I know, just the attitude and character type is what I was going for. Knew someone around here would be awesome enough to nitpick me on that detail. :P

Dual-wielding is certainly out of the question for him after a certain point.

Most definitely. It's funny you mention applying Jaime's attitude to your character since I pretty much did the same thing with mine. He's incredibly arrogant, yet has the skill to back it up.

Just need to get started on that Ramsay Bolton character...perhaps in the next ES when we can actually take a knife to someone's skin like an artist and carve away...

I would say your character is not a rogue..

Your character to me sounds like a good ol' skirmisher.. Hit and run tactics, confuse the enemy by light, anoying strikes :) Love it

Warm them up in the fort by fire arrows and run in, hit something, run out, rince and repeat until we; Heavy plated, heavy weapons barge in through the gate and just takes over the fort when the skirmisher's completely made them lose their will to fight :)
