Clothing, armor etc.

Should bethesda add more options for clothing, armor and weapons in the next patches?

I love Skyrim, but i think the choices in thes categories are very limited. This is seriously the only drawback with the greatest game ever.
I am no programmer or designer, but i reckon this should be an easy fix?

Take some "inspiration" from the Zenimax online studio, for example: http://tof.canardpc.com/view/e7f22dc4-4aab-494e-8e04-6db18aeafa7f.jpg

This "breton-outfit" looks awesome!! :-)

More (usually) = better. SI added a bunch of new stuff, can't see why Dawnguard should be any different.

I am afraid the Dawnguard expansion is more like Knights of the Nine, + the promo-pic shows the "dragonborn-armor"...

Yeah, sure. But it was ONLY ONE... :-)

I want them to add 20+ more variants, at least...

This thread is the perfect excuse to mention a few words that have obviously gone out of fashion in the last 200 years, 'chain' and 'mail'.

Damn straight! :-D
And "layering" in armor and clothing too. So you could have chainmail underneath a cloak or something = Awesome!

I doubt it will be KoTN sized or SI after Bethesda's statements about expansions. It will most likely be somewhere inbetween. It will probably open up some small new locations, with new quests, enemy types, armours and weapons. How many new types is yet to be seen, but I hope a reasonable amount.

Yeah, but reasonable amount; in comparison to what Skyrim shipped with, would probably mean that they have made 3 new armors, a sword, an axe and a bow...
I'm sorry, but even though i love Bethesda, they svck at this particular field...
(And before someone replies with this; I don't have a working gaming PC, so mods is not an option!)

This.

Also, Karliah's armor, serious it's the coolest looking variant (imo) and we can't get it.

Chain mails are actually less effective than plate-armor, because the chain mail puts all the weight on the shoulders of the wearer while the plate-armor has many individual pieces that are strapped to the belonging body part. It also gives less defense than a plate-armor and is less flexible.

(My source is the guide at the Swedish Royal Armory)

But it would surely be nice to have chain mail as an option though

most of the time afaik plate-armor make use of chain mail "under" the plates. infact almost all armors make use of a chain mail in one form of another.

I would be surprised if it wasn't added more clothing and armor in Dawnguard and the other DLCs that are coming. I don't think they will add them in the patches though.

New variants for all armors as well as unique clothing from other provinces would be nice. If the empire is present in Skyrim why do none of them own any Cyrodiilic clothing?

At this stage I want more armours and weapons because at the moment, even with mods there is not huge variation. I also always prefer content that has been made by the developers themselves. Skyrim sort of feels lacking as they got rid of typesof weaponry and armour like mithril and chainmail.

Talking about armor I find it strange that the Imperial Armor(the heavy version) have the same stats as iron armor, but require steel smithing to be forged and recieves the tempering bonus from said perk. One would think the armor would have the stats of the set of steel armor rather than iron.

It is so the stormcloaks have at least a small chance against them with their weak armor

Well, to be fair it is only ranking officer's who wear the heavy armor and the Stormcloaks generally have stronger weapons, mainly due to their habbit of using 2-handed ones, so I don't see that as a good reason.

Since it can be upgraded at the same rate as steel it isn't that big differnce, but it is still something to ponder. Even more so since the Imperial Officer's Helmet have the same protection as a steel helmet.

Well even then the gear looks terrible. If the chest was like Tullius' but silver the entire Imp Army would look at least a tad intimidating
