Come on Bethesda!

I am now level 7, have enjoyed the game thus far.

But when I pay 65$ for a game, I EXPECT it to be flawless. I am talking about bugs and glitches, not content. I mean, anyone else notices that every once in NOT a great while, your screen "hicups" or freezes for like 1 second while running around. Seriously, every so often, the screen freezes for a half second, like it has to load stuff. Just now, I go to zoom in ( down the barrel) of my repeater, and all the sudden the gun and everything is just black, sharp, angled lines. Like a serious graphics failure/glitch. I try to open my Pip-Boy....utter chaos.

You [censored] can flame me all you want. But I am sorry, when I pay 60+ freaking dollars for a video game, I don't expect the beta/alpha version of the game. I assume that a small portion of my 60$ goes to pay the salaries/wages of the game testers, whose job it is to make sure there are no glitches.

There has never been a single game that has been released without a single glitch. It's just not possible for a game to be completely flawless. And if you're really that upset about the game hiccuping for half a second, maybe New Vegas isn't the game for you, since the game world is so large that that will be happening every so often so the game can load new areas.

Also, Obsidian made this game. Not Bethesda.

Bethesda published the game. Obsidian developed it.

I have been experiencing the "hiccups" too, but it is really a non-issue. I'll take split-second hiccups over the 15+ long second bouts of 1-3 FPS that I experience while playing certain other games (entering high population cities in MMORPGs on my computer = faaaaail)...

Please name for me one or two pieces of software that cost over $40, that were not buggy on release?

Software is complicated these days. Bugs happen, and no amount of testing will get them all. Testing even to an acceptable level is expensive and -time-consuming-.

Deal with it. Lets see you do better.

It's a time thing, not a lack of testing thing. Bethesda needed to hit their release date, so they froze the release codebase to go gold with bugs still in it. They've already announced an upcoming patch to fix things, so they definitely knew about the bugs before release. Yeah, Obsidian made the game, but Bethesda Softworks was responsible for setting the release date (and enforcing it) and Bethesda Game Studios co-managed the project. It was within Bethesda's power to push back the release date to get the bugs worked out first.

I'm just about to finish downloading and updating my copy, so I can't really speak as to any bugs, but -

It's been said already, games have bugs. If you've played a videogame and haven't come across one, then you're just one of the lucky ones. Sure, there's kind of a fine line between an acceptable level and just downright unplayable (and it's going to vary from person to person,) but it's going to happen at some point.

Anyway, I can't really say much else until I've had a chance to play the game and see how it runs on my comp.

You're entitled to your grief; the game's rampant number of bugs is a slap in the face to any developer worth their salt.

But it was not intelligent for you to expect a piece of software to be released with no bugs. This is an impossibility the the complexity of today's games.

I DO NOT expect a flawless game, but the bugs in this game are ridiculously over the top and are the same we have been dealing with for 2 other games with the same engine. this is just developer laziness or ignorance to fix their flawed engine.

Pong was done in hardware. Could have been a hardware fault!

Incidentally, that's where 'bug' came from - an actual bug shorted something out back when such words were still being coined.

You joke, but that is essentially the heart of the issue. Just like engineers strive to create the best machines by having them as simple as they can be and still do the job, or constructing them to have as few moving parts as possible so fewer things can go wrong.

Well, video games are machines, and they just keep getting more and more complicated. So now, much more than earlier video games, there is more to go wrong. In a system with a million moving parts, it is damn hard to determine which of those parts in the chain is causing the problem you are seeing in the end result.

It doesn't matter, these glitches are ridiculous and NOT rare. I understand the glitches that happen, but not the ones that happen 24/7 to 90% of the people playing it. That is a joke. Like the enemies constantly falling inside rocks and the fact that my gun mesh decided to disappear and be replaced with a huge exclamation mark and big red square, is just utterly ridiculous.

Guys, its not the little hiccups. I mean, I have ran into a few more bugs than I mentioned in my post. I do not need to be told that every games has its few bugs and glitches I mean, for such a hyped up and EXPECTED title, I EXPECT to NOT have to reset my PS3 in order to play because of a bug. The size of the map/game..WTF does that have to do with the game. I payed 60$, test it.

I am not [censored]ing about the loading or lil hiccups. While I am sure some of you older guys/gals grew up on the Atari and such, I am not some 13 year old who started out on the xbox. My first game was Donkey Kong. I state this because I realize that every games has it bugs or glitches. But IMO, when it gets to the point that you have to restart the game/system, then that is the point where a bit of [censored]ing/complaining/questioning is allowed without being totally flamed.

Don't get me wrong, I would STILL buy Fallout New Vegas over and over again, regardless. I just wanted to vent a little bit. And guys, realize, that allready, Fallout New Vegas has MORE BUGS THAN NORMAL. Thats the point. Not that it has bugs, but it has more bugs than expected/acceptable

Just one last point. I am not one to make blind assumptions. but when I [censored] about paying 60$ for a above average bugged game, its only because I work pretty darn hard for my money, and mommy/daddy didn't drive me to Wal-Mart and pay for the game. ( not saying that any of this community's situation is ANY different, just stating a fact)

O well, its still a fun game, but it just seems like some obvious bugs/glitches should have been caught
