Companies like bethesda is why piracy exists

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 1:12 pm

In no way do i support or condone piracy but why pay so much money for a broken game? If game companies would release finished products that warranted dropping 60 bucks to buy, then no one would get buyers remorse and resort to pirating games...

Some say pirates will be pirates but in bethesda's case, theres no reason why skyrim should have a price tag on it until it gets fixed to be playable.

Here's a thought , if the game has bugs don't buy it. You think bugs gives you the right to STEAL a game? You have to be the most self-entitled person I've seen post here and that is saying something

Which is why I USUALLY buy games when they're sold as complete package. It's 2-3 years old after release with (hopefully) most bugs worked out, tons of mods to choose from and easier for my laptop to handle :). Although I do buy Skyrim at release because I've been waiting for it and honestly in PC it hasn't been that bad. Aside from the UI I really have been enjoying the game

"Self-entitled"? As in, if you pay 60 dollars and you expect your game to work on day one, this means you somehow feel entitled to more than everyone else or something unreasonable?

My game works, perfectly, and sure this thread is a kneejerk reaction to that person's game not working... but really? If u pay, u shuld get to play lol.

As for the argument about piracy, apparently pirates are the "best customers", and no I'm not making that up. http://boingboing.net/2011/07/26/ousted-emi-boss-pirates-are-our-best-customers-suing-is-bad-for-business.html

And yes, we get it, piracy bad. HOWEVER. Piracy is not the same as stealing, legally anyways.

PS: Games don't advertise that they're full of bugs, so unless you know someone that you can trust to be objective.. You wouldn't know if there was bugs... ANNNDD if you buy it, you can't return it! HA!

So just b/c you have no problems with the game means that everyone is overreacting?

No, the reason piracy exists is because people like to have something for nothing. Generally people will pay for some game that they like but pirate something they don't feel comfortable paying for. Or In the case of people who make maybe $10 a week want entertainment but can't possibly get it legitimately.

Piracy != stealing. Stealing requires a missing original, which is not the case here. It's an illegal copy. I'm not defending piracy, just pointing out that piracy is legally speaking not the same as stealing.

There is no excuse for piracy. Personally, I don't have any problems with the game. Zero. But even if you have some kind of game breaking bug, that doesn't justify stealing the game. Be patient, and wait for a patch.

Or everyone can wait for a review of the game before paying $60. If it doesn't sound good then don't play it.

People always look for the easy way out. Saying a game svcks then pirating it sounds dumb to me.

No people thinking that they are entitled to the fruits of somebody elses labour is why pirates exist, but I suppose some of the [censored] that people have to suffer through in regards to the DRM that does nothing to deter pirates and instead punishes the legitimate customer does make pirating seem like a more attractive alternative.

Sadly, and I'm not sure if this reflects Skyrims release, but sometimes pirated versions are actually more stable and playable than what you buy in the store. It doesn't make it okay to pirate, but it's not hard to see why some people would.

'those with tight wallets may also pirate'

So? They are still scum. Stealing is stealing. It means you have no moral code worth spit. Disgusting. I always enjoy when I see a media industry come down hard on people and fine them 250,000 for one movie and they try and act indignant.... fact is: they're a thief. Put them in jail and forget the fine.

Pirates = scum.

Agreed. I used to buy Chrysler vehicles until they all starting crapping out on me after 10-15,000 miles. Now I just go throw a brick through the dealer window and help myself. It's ok to steal when product quality isn't where it should be.
