Companion In Party But Not Physically Present

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 11:17 am

Hello,

I've been playing "Fallout: New Vegas" for a while and I ran into my first glitch/bug. I had "Ed-E" as my companion, and I check constantly to make sure he is present. Now I want to start the side-quest where I take "Rex" (the "King's" robotic dog) to get repaired.

My problem is that now "Ed-E" is physically missing, but the game still detects him there. Because "Ed-E" is missing I am unable to dismiss him, so I can have "Rex" follow me. I have always been cautious with my saves (I currently have all 100 slots filled), and loading a previous save does not remedy the problem. Even from some of the earliest game saves I have, he is now also missing.

I am not playing "hardcoe Mode", and there is no notice that he is unconscious. Additionally, when I "Fast-Travel", the game still thinks that he is present".
What should I do to fix this?

Thank-You for reading and hopefully responding.

I have the same problem and these steps did not resolve it. I hope it helps Bethesda because I doubt anything else can fix it.

1. Went and talked to Victor outside of 38 to have Boone and ED-E wait outside.
2. Went in 38 to confirm that companions were forced to wait.
3. Returned outside and had Boone come with me to a town other than Primm.
4. Waited 7 days.
5. Went to Primm and did not find ED-E.
6. Had Boone wait at Primm.
7. Waited 7 more days outside of building where Boone is in.
8. ED-E still gone, Boone still there.
9. Tried clearing cache with no result.
10. Tried elevator glitch repaired by NPC with no result.
11. Tried elevator glitch repaired by me with no result.

My friend had this issue, he told me that he gave up on finding ed-e. however, when he made it to the bottom of vault 22, ed-e was with him again... I'm not sure if this will work for everyone, but he said that's how he found him

Thank-You for both of you posting. I'm going to give those possible remedies a try anyway.

Thanks Again.

I've seen several post confirming this worked for others, and it worked for me to. (Though he was lost in Vault 22. Only the elevator made him come back.) If just transitioning normal doors fails, fix the elevator and use that!! (Needs to meet a repair skill check. Can not remember what it was now though.)

Good luck.
