Companions in hardcoe mode

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 7:55 pm

So, randomly playing FO3 a thought just struck my mind. In hardcoe mode, do we also have to arm (ammo wise), feed and give water to our companions? Just a point I think most of us have overlooked :-\

i hope we dont have to.

but if we do. i hope that if they get hungry they will just grab the nearest food item in the area and us not have to feed them

I don't want this, because if I ever did get over my lazy hump and switch from Regular to hardcoe mode, I want to play hardcoe mode, not Babysitter mode.

I sure as hell hope not. It's come up before, and I dismiss it as more tedious than difficult or fun.

hardcoe Babysitter, that sounds like a possible Sims Expansion... =p

But yeah, I hope companions can fend for their own with upgradable default no ammo required weapons and I hope they are self-feeding...

Really bad idea to be honest, it's enough work keeping companions from killing themselves as it is; keeping them stocked on ammunition and food constantly would be a nightmare.

They should worry bout their own food, they should go buy from traders or something, but i don't agree bout them having infinite ammo. We should get it for them like in fallout 2.

I don't think anything has been said on this, but I have to agree it would probably be rather excessive for the player to have to feed companions in hardcoe mode, after all, these aren't three year olds we're talking about here, the companions are people who really should be able to fend for themselves, they shouldn't really need the player to babysit them. If that was necessary, I think it would be rather discouraging to those considering taking a companion in hardcoe mode.

And unless the AI is smart enough to make an effort to conserve ammunition when possible, I would really prefer if infinite ammunition weapons for companions remain, maybe if the AI wouldn't waste lots of ammunition on radroaches, I'd be fine with needing to set aside some ammunition for them, but since I doubt that will be the case...

It would make no sense whatsoever. Having to feed yourself, that I'm fine with but just because people decide to follow you it doesn't generally mean they're completely incapable of even feeding themselves. Besides, I'd definately prefer if a guy who doesn't know how to eat does NOT have a huge gun to point wherever he wishes.
