Comparison Crysis 2 / Brink

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:05 pm

Hey guys.

Now that brink is out and got pretty low ratings Id like to know if in comparison to crysis 2 which got quite good reviews, do you think that is fair?

I just want your opinions on this.

Because tbh I was one of those guys that were waiting for crysis 2, I played the demo and even had some glimpses of the leaked beta and despite some flaws it is really a good game, especially the possibility to combine and switch your abilities nanovision/stealth/armor on the fly makes it really fun in multiplayer.

But when I heard that alot of people said that Brink is going to be SOOOOOOO much better I kinda hesitated and ended up not buying crysis 2.

Now I just want to know if I should take crysis 2, which like I said I already got a few glimpses on (leaked beta/ friend of mine / demo) or should I buy Brink which I have seen just trailers from so far?

I haven't played Brink so this isn't totally valid, but hey ho it might help.

From what I've read and seen so far, Brink is suffering from many of the same problems crisis had.

Lag... people problems online and so on. So I'd suggest waiting a bit longer, see what some like minded people have to say and make your decision then.

Don't let the 'professional' reviews put you off, Crisis wasn't what it cracked up to be, and hopefully Brink is a lot better too :P

Hey Sxing,

I felt the same way about Crysis 2 and I eventually decided to hold off and give Brink a try. I already played the hell out of Reach and Black Ops and I just had a nagging feeling that Crysis 2 would be more of the same. Are you interested in campaigns and single player mode? If that's a big selling point for you, consider picking up Crysis 2 because Brink is mostly designed for multiplayer. If you can live without a big campaign and just want the multiplayer experience, then Brink is probably the better option. Also, are you into the "one man army" approach to multiplayer games or do you like the team approach? Crysis 2 probably fits more within the Halo/CoD line of shooters, while Brink is more like Team Fortress 2/RTCW. Essentially they're very very different games, so it really comes down to your personality type.

You always hear about developers paying off reviewers to give good reviews, I wonder if the opposite has ever happened? I wonder if another company has forcefully destroyed a games reputation in order to maintain a generic genre instead of innovating into something fresh and new.

Game Politics?

EDIT: We also have various discussions about this going on in the BRINK forums.

I was never a big fan of fps games, because a buddy of mine recommended bad company 2 back then I bought it, it was pretty okay but eventually I got tired of the game and all the [censored] hardcoe players that sniped u after just spawning and [censored].

The first fps game I was really good in was crysis 2, with the right equipment and a good team you can deal some EXTREME dmg to your opponents points. I would buy an fps only and only for Multiplayer.

The question now is Brink or Crysis 2??

-->When crysis 2 was released, despite of the generally good reviews, alot of people complained about the rather minor bugs and flaws of the game which I think should be gone by now.

Brink sounds and looks interesting though I wonder how many ppl will buy the game, there is no point in buying if the community lasts for just 1-2 months and after that noone wants to play online anymore
