Compensation for Europeans

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 12:54 am

Well, i think compensation to and fro...won't happen but a patch that we could get ENGLISH sound at least, would be nice..for free...like in ME 3

A lot of people here, and that includes me, prefer the original sound and not the dubbed version.

Just my five cents.

Thats almost impossible to do with a patch if the games entire data is in another language, especially on consoles. The update for that would be massive, in the hundreds of MB range at minimum. If a game has mutli-language on the disc then its not so much of an issue. But as far as I am aware Skyrim is a single language disc.

Strange, i happen to know that Mass Effect 3 as well as Fable 3 offer these. For both games you can download the English sound FOR FREE.

And they dont have multi languages on the discs, i assure you.

As I understand it some titles actually come with the english content on the disc but "locked" or "hidden" as it were. Normally its because they have the intention to offer english as an alternative either at release or a later date. In the case Skyrim, the amount of actual dialogue and voice over files that there are would mean that if there is no english on the disc, the download for it would be in hundreds of MB region. Now for some developers and publishers (EA for example) thats not a problem as they have option with MS to ignore the patch size limitations or give out essentially free DLC with the content on it. I dont think Bethesda have such an option with MS or Sony for that.

Well, I don't know about these things but well, then i would say it is time for Bethesda to make a new deal with Bill Gates.

It is not so much about being "entitled" to free DLCs, large DLC, or Speech Patches, but it would be a nice gesture, customer friendly....they could get a tax deduction of it for public relations expenses or so.
Well, or at least it would make a nice impression on the really upset european customers.

Should be worth thinking about.

A company that wants to stay on the market has to look out for their customers.

Oh, well, lets now just wait and see what is going to happen with Dawnguard. German or English, just let it be operational and with all textures. << Silent plea to Nocturnal, or to Stendarr or who ever is responsible for missing game contents >>

Oh I agree with the sentiment, its nice for companies to offer the option of language type post release. But its not the norm, and in many cases is a very expensive proposition.

This discussion is kind of weird though. It's almost like some people are saying... "Damn we got screwed over by this, we paid our money and we can't use it...but Bethesda's not so bad I guess,
I don't feel entitled to complain..." and other people are saying "Yeah...even though you guys paid for it, you have no rights to complain about anything because Bethesda owes you nothing even
after you paid for it." and the response is like "Yeah...I guess you're right...I wont complain" and I'm just looking on in horror and confusion....

Is it really okay to release something that like...totally doesnt work...have people pay for it, and then the people who paid for it aren't supposed to say anything? And when people do ask for a heads up
on the situation, the information from the company about the situation is flaky at best... What's up with that? Why is that okay? Am I missing something?

Of course they have the right to say something, if they didn't the problem would never even come to surface. The issue is expecting compensation beyond an already promised impending fix.

Bethesda became aware of the issue, addressed it by saying they are going to get a fix out as soon as the patch version mis-match is resolved with Microsoft.

The problem is now being fixed, and thats all Bethesda should have to do about it really. They shouldn't be required to hand out refunds and free content for every hiccup they come across, that is entirely unrealistic.

Just last week I bought a new Lawnmower, spent 500 bucks on it. Took a week to arrive, and the gas cap was missing the rubber seal, so gas spewed out as soon as the mower started. I called the company, they sent a replacement and it got fixed. I didn't demand a refund, nor compensation, only that the issue be resolved. My complaint was heard and the problem was resolved, I never expected the company to refund me $500 for a simple problem, I just had to wait for it to be fixed.

Do they have a right to complain? Yes, of course. Should they expect compensation for such a simple blunder? Certainly not.

You would think that with all the complaints about dawnguard in the US version, all the bugs, etc you could have made a conscious decision not to buy it. Thats just my opinion. I mean given how buggy the WHOLE GAME IS...Are you really surprised?

''I want a compansation Bethesda, and don't think you can barter with me like I'm one of those damned shopkeepers!''

No, althoug I think they have not fulfilled the contract, because we did not get what we paid for, I do not insist on compensation. I only want them do do their best to release the patch as early as possible. But I think there are many people who are waiting for an apology. So Bethesda should explain their mistakes and do whatever is necessary to avoid the same issues in the future.
I am sure everyone will be satisfied then.

I don't care about a compensation, i just wish i could play Dawnguard. It's all that matters to me.

You shouldn't have to wait extra time when you already paid for a product. If that was supposed to be like that, why not wait for the same release as for the PC and PS3 ? I mean, it would allow a longer testing session and at the same time wouldn't start stupid conflicts between different systems owners.

Hopefully MS doesn't screw up the release and doesn't delay it. I would be mad.
