Competition mode now...

Post » Mon Jun 20, 2011 4:58 am

So as if its not hard enough to find players in this game....competition being the only mode that offers quick matches usually got totally DESTROYED today with whatever update they gave it.

Look I understand the purpose of making a competitive mode more...competitive and fair, but by having this feature they added it just alienates the player base even further.

1. You can't start a match unless its 5v5.. no 3v3 4v4 3v1 etc etc... it has to be 5v5.. and EVERYONE has to ready up. I was waiting around 9 of us were ready and it took the 10th guy 5 minutes of us shooting him to ready up.

2. There is HARDLY anyone on to begin with... and waiting around for 10 players is INSANE. On top of that, there was ONE GAME for me I could get put in.. and any other was a lag fest.

its just a bad Idea... now I have to rely on full teams (waiting) and now I have to search big team and old skool (players?)

What are your thoughts on this????

I was waiting with three other guys and it kept showing that six other players are warming up but they never joined. Two left after awhile. And then I left. I joined Standard after that and amazingly enuff a full 8v8 human match was going on.

At this point i don't know what to say about the modes anymore. I just want to play against humans and a lot of them without having to wait and search around. Thank God for BC2. Thank God indeed.

I really decided they hope to roll this update back from what I have heard. I've been busy today, so I haven't had time to get on Brink for a few matches, but if it's true you need 10 real players, and all have to be ready for the match to begin, that will only make games more time consuming and annoying to get fired up.

Plus, if a player gets in an ill-mannered mood after a tough loss, now that player can get back at the enemy team by just not hitting the ready button and forcing the other 9 players to leave and attempt to get another match rolling.

All-in-all, I don't think this will add anything good to the competition mode, and they should change it back to the way it was yesterday, because I was having a blast on competition last night playing with 6-10 real players playing games back-to-back without waiting.

I didn't experience this on the PS3. I tried playing Competition Mode and it only said, "waiting for 3 other players to join." So what you're saying is the game won't even start until all 10 players "ready up"?

Of course I waited and waited, and no one joined. So I reloaded the game. No one joined. So I tried Old Skool. Ghost town again. After about 5 or 6 attempts I went right back to BC2...AGAIN.

It's not that no one is playing, it's that they don't merge lobbies. Pathetic.

I'm not wasting my time trying to play Brink online anymore until Bethesda and Splash decide to make this game worth more than a cheap download. My loyalty to it is decreasing with each passing day of no news, no updates, no DLC, no improvements. I'll just wait until the DLC comes out and see if there's actual match-making to be had along with the 2 new maps...for a total of 10 maps....which is still 6 shy of the core map package in MW2 that was released 2 years ago. Hopefully it won't be 2 new maps with no one in them like the core 8 maps we have right now.

Unfortunately this isnt just competition mode. Dealt with it in Standard Freeplay vs as well today.
You dont need a set amount of players for the match to start, but everyone has to ready up.

they should just make it friends-only for your team if they want to restrict it correctly. True teammates of yours would be on your friends list.

Also, a rank-restricted Old Skool should have been "standard" mode. As in, the botlessness of Oldskool. Standard should have been where Oldskool currently is and relabeled "bots", "beginner", or something similar.

I always saw competition mode for clans if you have a team of 5 you go there. I saw Old Skool as where the randoms go to play without bots.
