Complete Companions without being a werewolf?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 1:51 pm

Ahoy,

The Companions want me to become a werewolf (I'm on the quest "The Silver Hand").
Can I refuse and still be a Companion, and complete the quests?
If I refuse, I won't be part of "the circle". Should I become a werewolf for that?

The Circle is just the elite branch of the Companions.
And yes, you do have to become a werewolf to become a member of The Circle.

I don't know anything about this quest(I haven't gotten to it yet) but can you finish it and then cure yourself or do you have to stay a werewolf?

No, sorry - to complete the companions main quest you have to become a member of the circle -and therefore a werewolf. I know it kind of svcks. Oh and becoming a werewolf overrides being a vampire. And the werewolf form is horribly underpowered. Ok it really svcks

Yes there is a quest where you can cure it, I've never done it myself but I believe its only available after you completed the companions main quest.

False.

Using the roar allows you to take out whole bandit camps/groups of humans and other enemies without taking a single hit. There is no other build which could accomplish the same at such efficiency.

Umm... Yes there is its called 'Mayhem' master level illusion spell, and the roar doesn't scale making it useless at higher levels. And in any case my first two points are most certainly true.

IF you want to become the "leader" of the companions you need to enter the "circle" and so you are forced to become a werewolf
but you really want to become the leader of the companions? is not like it's something special tbh sadly
that said, roleplaying reasons aside, you can become a werewolf and never actually sue the ability (except on the first quest), and at a certain point you can easily get rid of the curse

I've used it at level 35 and it still works on humans, what levels are you using it at, and what are you trying to use it on?

Why wouldnt you want to? no downside, 100% disease resist and a few other active effects. and if you need to travel somewhere turn into a werewolf and sprint for days.

You don't even have to use the form in battle if you choose not to. I mostly don't.

52 and before giving up on werewolf form completely I mainly used it on humans (to no effect), and like I said I'm a master of illusion and 'mayhem' works better (puts everyone into a frenzy) - but seriously even if the shout did work the werewolf just seems to have such low health - In adept difficulty I was being killed in 2-3 hits by the silver hand.

Lol the whole point is that you don't take the hits. Of course the werewolf form goes down quick; it's the same as you having double health and no armour.

Uh-Huh. This still doesn't mitigate the fact that Mayhem (and a bunch of other spells and powers you cant use in wolf form) is better than the roar and the roar doesn't scale. Also if the only means of surviving as a werewolf is to spam roar then I would rather give it a skip. I'm also annoyed you made me say 'roar' so many times

The spell is fair enough, I play warrior so I was only basing my assertion on that background, but your reasoning behind skipping werewolf because you need to spam roar is just fail. To survive as a dual-wielder you have to spam attack, to survive as a destruction mage you have to spam magic, to survive as an archer you need to spam arrows; I guess there's a lot in this game you're not prepared to do.. not to mention the fact you don't actually need to spam roar, as it lasts for like 30 seconds. You only need to roar again in the meantime to cancel the feeding animation or hit foes you didn't hit with the first one.

"The spell is fair enough" Wonderful, so you admit that the werewolf form is completely and utterly useless to me and, indeed anyone who has a good range of powers, spells and shouts (which should be most people late in the game). As for the rest of the comment - not only did it completely miss the point, but you made it clear that you have no intention to be polite - and thus I wont reply to you any further.

The werewolf form is great for getting to new bandit forts. Just use it when you want to. You can also get unlimited transformations by

getting the Ring of Hircine.

I also think the werewolf power is too weak. Aside from when you are a very low level, it is basically a downgrade button. The only way to not be killed instantly is to spam the roar attack to make people run then attack them from behind which is cheap and boring

When I found out the circle were werewolves I had a feeling I may need to become one to finish the quest line for the guild. This really svcks because I don't want to become a werewolf for no other reason than I just do not want to be one. This is game breaking for me on this part.

In all previous ES games at least since Morrowind GOTY you had option be become a vampire or werewolf. I thought it was cool you had the option especially for players that like it, for me though, I do not want to be either.

I find this unbelievably irritating as a requirement!

EDIT: If I could just never use it and get a cure immediately it wouldn't be as bad.

EDIT: I am going to go kill the entire circle except for the leader who wants the cure.

One more edit: This requirement would actually be great if you could join the silver hand as another fighters guild quest line and kill the werewolves.

As of now, that's not possible. Perhaps someone will make a mod for it...

Being a werewolf isn't really that bad. You could just not use the ability and forget about it.

You don't have to be a werewolf in any of the Companion quests?
