Completed College of Wintrerhold

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:39 pm

I've just the College of Winterhold and now I'm the Arch-Mage. But now what, is there any perks I get out of doing it (apart for ugly robes and a free place to live)? Is that quest completely finished now?

Yup. Aside from side quest of fetch this and that you're done.

Now? You weep for having played the worst guild quest line in TES history.

I just finished this quest line as well. Question, does anyone know if I can dump and store loot in my Archmage private quarters at the College?

Yes, you can. There are areas if you wish to separate things too. I keep ingredients near the alchemy table (in various sacks), soul gems in the cases and weapons in the woven basket / trunk near the Arch Mage's bed.

Fantastic it was 2am when I got the keys, so tonight I get to examine my new quarters and then go loot the heck out of Skyrim. Boring old quest line but not a terrible perk at the end of the day. Nice to have protected quarters with no need to lay out cash for a house!

I guess the big question is which side quest now, as I am bored with the main quest right now?

1. Dark brotherhood
2. Companions
3. Thieves guild

Well....Thieves guild has a pretty good storyline and so do the dark brotherhood, companions are almost as bad as the college but you do get a nice perk depending on how you like it. p.s How do you put down the spoiler tags?

I have no idea how the spoiler tags work.

DB is, so far, a really interesting story line. You must croak some folks who seem harmless to you so beware of that. Companions is pretty good with a surprising perk or un-perk depending on your POV.
Spoiler
You must become a werewolf to complete Companions.

I have a very bad attitude toward thieves so I declined that line. Odd that I am playing DB but won't play thieves but that's role play for ya.

Epic win

also i don't see why so many people hate the robes, good enchantments and they do look pretty sick with a dragon priest mask.

To me, the robes make a male char look like a cross dressing hobo, but I like their effect.

Reporting back 60 game day's later and I am thrilled to say that the archmages quarters replenish themselves of everything somewhere between 30 and 60 game days! Killer perk and I am happy about my efforts to get this nice little refuge for when I am in winterhold and need a place to enchant stuff and brew potions not to mention stash the heavy dragon bones. Now I have to decided if I want to keep all my robes in the chest as I an not using to much mage gear at the moment, or hang it up in breeze home with everything else. I think it might be time to plunder and kill my way to a few more houses. I like the thought of owning propetry in every hold!

The perk is having J'zargo thank you for your generous gifts when you leave stuff there...

The Arch Mage's quarters is my favorite home in Skyrim, with Markarth a close second. Alchemy and enchanting stations are easy to get to and so is storage. Plus gobs of atmosphere in that place, and high ceilings -- gotta have high ceilings.

I love the archmage quarters. I took everything out of Breeze home and only sleep there if I'm in that area. I left the place to Lydia who seems to be sleeping in my room anyway. She's always there, eats there, etc. I didn't know that the stuff replenished. I do like the archmage robes but don't wear them as much since they really don't provide protection without alteration. Guess I should get my perks up in alteration but I already have dragonscale armor with enchantments and daedric weapons with enchantments. Doing the dark brotherhood next so I'll have their robes (got a mod to change it to all black, looks much better). My high elf is a battle mage. I can never just go total mage. Maybe once the modders get to work (pc), I'll go total mage. I just don't think it pays right now even with conjuration.

Rather than start a new thread, I was wondering if anyone has ever "lost" anything by stashing in the Arch-mage quarters?

Is it safe for me to use this as a new home?

Thanks,
R

All of the guilds give you safe storage and a bed.

Nothing lost, but I had everything in a case fall out onto the ground after I returned. The case even opened itself!

It's a tie with the companion guild, unless you consider the 'Radiant' quests a perk.

I've been using the heck out of the chest across from the bed with no problem for probably 100+ in game days and at least 2 respawns of the room. About time to head back and check again as its been about another 45 in game days since my 100+ day look.

All in all it is seemingly safe, though I have seen some mentions that barrels in that room might not be good for storage.

Today I also became Arch-Mage. I wonder where Aren Savos went. Must have gone poof because the eye got him.

I have my Breezehome with Lydia installed. Getting tired of her now and never ask her to follow any more — her AI svcks. So I am thinking of moving all my stuff to my new quarters. She can stay and munch on her bread and cheese. See if I care. It's great that I have my own Arcane Enchanter. I plan to do some good stuff on that, especially when my Smithing is at Master.

I normally wear Nightingale amour even though it looks crappy, but when I chucked on my Arch-Mage robe, my knees were invisible. See-thru legs, see-thru face. What next? Nightingale is my best armour but the boots don't work with the Arch-Mage top. I favour light armour and anyway my Smithing still svcks so no dragonscale yet. I have several full sets of Ebony and Glass armours. The Glass looks ugly so I don't use that. The Ebony looks great but it's heavy armour and its AR is less than a full set of Nightingale so I don't use Ebony. I guess I am going to stay with my Dark Brotherhood armour and the Nightingale stuff.
