Computer brands and more bacon!

Post » Tue Jun 28, 2011 7:43 am

Hello. it is just me over here asking a question I have been wanting to hear for awhile.
What is your favorite computer/parts manufacturer and what is your favorite food and why? (second is optional once again...)

This may become a bit of a recurring theme with me involving food in my posts (especially bacon :woot: )
man, i love food... :liplick:

Brand of computer: Don't have one. Given the choice, I'll take a custom-built (with a mix of different parts manufacturers) any time.

Food: Not a brand, but steak. Doesn't matter so much what cut of steak, this carnivore loves it all.

My favorite food is whatever I am eating at any given time.

Depends on the components...

CPU: intel
Mobo: ASUS
Graphics Card: MSI
RAM: Corsair and Kingston.
Reader&Writer: LG
HDD: Western Digital
SSD: OCZ
Case: Silverstone, Lian Li and Corsair.
PSU: Corsair
Coolers: Thermalright and Noctua.
Laptops: ASUS

I admit EVGA has some sick extreme high end products when it comes to mobos and graphics cards though

I think that's mostly it :P

Food: Rice, rice and rice.

Favorite food: Jamaican Beef Patties, Man I love those things. haven't ate one in almost 20 years, then a friend of mine from New York walks into work one day and hands me one.

Computer parts brand: whichever makes the best version of the thing I'm buying that meets my needs and is in my price range. In my experience, none of them are perfect.

Food: toss-up between cheese (or something tasty that has cheese on it) and sushi.

Porcine charlatan!

My brother-in-law is a tech genius so all my computers are custom built, not of a particular brand.

I was reading somewhere recently that a lot of sound studios were starting to move toward Windows and Linux because Apple is a pain to deal with on the hardware side of things. You know that Apple doesn't make any of the parts inside the computer, right?

I thought the OP was talking about parts manufacturers...did I misunderguessstimate the thread topic?

Well, with two GTX 480 cards you won't have to worry about heating your home in the winter (although AC might be expensive ;)).

Oh, I guess I did, then I suppose it would be... ATI? I've seen that symbol on some of the parts.

I hadn't heard that but it makes perfect sense. The OS X may be great (still I'm used to Windows so I prefer that anyways) but when it comes to hardware Apple is well...limited is an understatemente <_<

When it comes to computers, I go with custom builts, but I've been very satisfied with ASUS mobo's and laptops.

As for food? Give me a pound a bacon and it will be gone before there's an ounce of grease on the plate.

Usually I stick with something along the line of this:
GPU: XFX or HIS (AMD)
CPU: AMD (though probably making the jump to Intel sometime soon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte
Case: Doesnt matter to me really, usually Rosewill or Antec http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811103011&Tpk=Xclio%20Windtunnel
SSD: OCZ
RAM: G Skill
HDD: Western Digital
PSU: Corsair

Those are probably the two brands I dislike the most when it comes to graphics cards :P Each to his own I suppose :D

Yeah I had 2 HIS 4890's in my desktop a while back, they were nice. Now, I have a single XFX 6970 in here, amazing, and it came with a do not disturb sign, so thats always nice.

Thing is XFX just sells the base models with their sticker (minus the ocasional Black Editions), something I can't stand since reference cards almost always look ugly, have worse temps and worse performance when compared to a fully custom graphics from the likes of MSI, ASUS or Gigabyte, with their custom coolers, PCBs etc...basically companies who take a reference card and the only thing reference afterwards is the GPU itself. Sure they cost extra but for it's a no brainer when to comes to reference or custom graphics cards :P

As for HIS although they do indeed make custom products I still dislike their performance numbers and looks. Example, the http://www.infohw.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/HIS-HD6870-IceQ-X-Turbo-X.jpg vs the http://www.gamexeon.com/forum/imagehosting/201102/243734d53c17ea4210.jpg.
