Howdy folks,

Welp, I fought off a nasty little virus on my computer about a week or so ago. I believe it was called "Windows Vista Security" or something. It tried to convince me that I was suffering from hard-drive failure and then proceeded to hide all of my files, desktop or otherwise. I managed to remove it, but now my start menu folders are all screwed up. Most of the subfolders are empty and their location is in a folder called Program Data on my C: drive (which are indeed empty). However, the original files are located where they should be, in the Program Files folder and the Program Files (x86) folder. Is there anyway I could relink the shortcuts in order to properly organize the start menu files? Thanks in advance.

Just right-click the "All Programs" and select Open/Open All users

Anything you put inside the programs folder in the window that launches will appear in your start menu, so just create shortcuts and drop them in there. Select Open if you only want the shortcuts to appear for your account, use Open All Users for shortcuts you want to appear on all accounts.

Alternatively, re-running the installer for something will most likely create a shortcut in your start menu.

Also, I must mention this has been a big thing at work because the files are hidden in your temp files and most people clean out the temp folder when getting rid of viruses.

That's rather useful. I'll need to remember that incase someone I know runs into this issue
