Conjuration spells obsolete?

If spells like Dead Thrall is only up to level 40, doesn't that mean that since enemies level with you at a certain point Necromancy becomes unusable?

Well, as said in the link posted above :

**Vampires can be thralled above the level 40 cap of Dead Thrall if the Dragonborn has taken the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Necromage#Perks perk found in the Restoration tree. This perk affects all spells that target vampires including Dead Thrall. With this perk all versions of vampires found in the game are thrallable except Volkihar Master Vampires (level 53). Of note are Volkihar Vampires (level 48) and Master Vampires (level 42), the two highest level natural candidates for thralls in the game.

Read the link i posted? =/

It has every speck of info you need on Dead Thrall, as well as how to make your Thrall as powerful as they can be, and which Thralls are the best.

Yes, look on the website. It will give you a list of powerful people you can raise below level 40, it's never obsolete.

Yes I read that. But that still only goes to 48. Since you can get to level 81, does that mean that once you pass 48 you can no longer get a thrall that can kill enemies since they level with you?

Most enemys stop lvling at 40-50, and stay there.
The only enemys i find that continue to scale with you are Dragons.

Look at the link we people have provided, you will see. Most enemies stop scaling once you hit 50 anyway.

Enemies don't level up much past level 50 even if you do.

I have had 5 chars that used the spell, with little issue. Two of which were retired at level 62. The wiki and UESP give the levels which they stop. Bandit Chiefs make excellent ones. You can upgrade there Steel Plate and give them an Epic Weapon and set back.

^This =)

Tip: Your thrall will Equipt any weapon you give them *as long as they are proficient with it* but they will NOT equipt any armor you give them, they will only wear the armor they had on when they died, but you can upgrade this armor and enchant it ^^
This however does not work with Followers.

I will add...
I get selective on my girls. They must be female, arms tucked in and in full Steel Plate. Give them an upgraded sword and board along with a powerful bow, and they will take out anything, swapping from ranged to melee.

The level scaling is not like Oblivion. You will not allways be fighting enemies at their max level based on your level. As far as I know dragons stats are not leveled only their spawn. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dragon

Even a mid-level mage can be pretty devastating with their magic, and the best part is that you can continuously reanimate them as needed, as well as use them for pack mules.

It's even more awesome if you have the Twin Souls perk.

Add a follower and Barbas, and all you'll need is just a van painted in 70s psychedelia.
