Conjuration? Worth it just for the Dremora Lords!

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:53 am

Conjuration is as far away from my cat/assassin/hunter as you can get. But when I decided to level beyond 60, I needed some talents I'd never used before. I finally got the perks to be able to summon a pair of Dremora Lords, and they are the best 'followers' you could ask for. It's not that I need help with enemies, it's just that these guys are so entertaining. First, they hit the ground running --- literally and figuratively, since they are only melee they go off after enemies I haven't even seen yet ... running down tunnels to get to archers on the catwalks above me. It's hilarious to see them and my horse, Shadowmere, slaughtering forsworns. But the best part is the dialogue ... you gotta love someone who says, "I smell weakness nearby" or "I'll eat your heart!"

even better, go all the way and make use of dremora markynaz dead thralls - permanent dremora lords whose weapons can be customized.

The only time I didn't hate dealing with Falmer was when I had the Staff of Sanguine.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvilIsHammy

I usually save the dremora lords for the big nasties, like draugr deathlords... though recently I encountered one deathlord that literally one-hit-killed my dremora... :ermm:

Most important to me though is an avenue for mages to get their hands on daedric gear. Once you hit 90, go talk to http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Phinis_Gestor at the College of Winterhold, and once you get a spherical item through that line, go down into the Midden with an ebony item, a black soul gem, a dwemer centurian dynamo core, and a daedra heart.

Hell, one Dremora is pretty unbalanced. My little slip of a Breton mage can be easily OHK'd by many enemies on Expert difficulty, but with my Dremora Lord at hand, nothing ever gets close enough to me to hit me.

I particularly love casting them at a distance (that perk was well worth it) and watch them run off to kill enemies I can't even see.
