Console commands enabled?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:34 am

Heya!

I was wondering if console commands would be enabled for F:NV? For the obvious reason that sometimes the temptation of TGM, player.additem f (Insert, "Reasonable," number here), player.modpcs rah rah rah and what not is just too tempting, but also for debugging purposes and error correction (TCL = great when for no apparent reason, the map spawns you underneath a boulder. Or you find an, "Inescapable," point that apparently should've killed you... but failed. o.o). While I'm sure there would be a mod for them if they're not, I already have my character's build in mind, but there's no way I could max out his skills and attain the perks needed (Bounty hunter.. Repair, Survival, Explosives, (New Small Guns?) and Energy Weapons), and yeah.

I'll try to bolster my ego by saying, "But it's for the debugging!" that I want console commands active..

Thanks in advance,
Kusu.

Nah they won't enable it on the consoles, maybe if trophies and achievements didn't exist they'd enable them for people with a keyboard to plug into the machine but I doubt it.

Yeah, that's what I was worried about. I'm not a person who gives a rat's rectum about achievements (And I think I'm the only person who has nearly all of the Engie and Spy achievements in TF2 without the use of Achievement servers.. XD). I'm playing it on PC, through Steam... which is why I asked, since I figured something would go wrong there. Shame that to play the game how I'd like to, I'mma' need those commands. No matter. I'll wait for a mod to enable them, I suppose. :celebration:

I tried fallout 3 on a friends computer but hated the control scheme, of mouse&key board. I tend to make the choice between computer and console based on the game controls. For me a game like fallout 3/Vegas or Oblivion is best done with a control, but say dragonage works better with a mouse and keyboard.

Haha, fair enough. Personally, FPS/Twitch-gaming is best done with a mouse and keyboard in my opinion. (Not to toot my own horn, but I have completed the game without a single use of VATS... xD)

But that said, let's try and keep on topic. =P. I hope a dev can answer to console-related question... I mean, playing without console commands? That's gotta' svck. I choose PC for a reason. So if and when I get into a jam.. "HAAAAAX!"

I kinda hope they keep with the standard practice and the debug console ISN'T enabled on the gaming console. For me debug consoles are like pizza rolls. I can live without them just fine but if its available I can't help but partake, but I have no need to worry. No way will anyone outside the computer version have access to the debug console.

That's the way it's always been.

Usually, my favourite command on the umpteenth playthrough is MoveToQT. It isn't a temptation, so much as laziness. Particularly in FO3 would be with the GNR-Studios quests.. Getting to the place is annoying, and the wading amongst the entrails of billions upon billions of Ghouls through the Car Tunnels, Tentleytown/Freedom (Or is it Friendship?) stations and all is just plain annoying.

As well, sometimes odd things happen. Up North, there's a point in the rocky outcrops where you can literally just be stuck. Stuck. Can't jump out. Can't move. Exploding yourself out is useless - the rocks are kind of like a funnel. Stuck. You NEED the TCL (Toggle Clipping for those that haven't figured out the acronym yet.. xD) to get unstuck, or else repeating a save from five minutes ago.. just drowns whatever mojo I had for playing the game, at least for a few hours. (The first few times, sure. Everything's new. After you know nearly every gradient of the map and location by heart, realising that once again you've accidentally fallen through one of the map's pitfalls... Normally whenever I make that much effort at repeating any action, I'm used to some sixual satisfaction. Which I don't get. Hurr hurr.

Uh, I haven't got the PC version quite yet, but I'd say its a pretty safe bet the PC version will have the console. The last 3 titles have had it, don't see why it wouldn't be in this one

At least it's realistic when you fall somewhere you can't get out of... dehydrate or starve to death :P
