Console DLC

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 12:54 pm

Anyone have any serious information on any console DLC for Skyrim. Im thinking it is only fair with the PC mods and HRTP so where is the love for console players even with fixes for bugs like Blood on the Ice.

I would be happy if they released their game jam ideas to tide us over for a while and then released something really polished in the summer.

Can't stress this enough, to much potentially good DLC has been ruined because they wanted to release it as quickly as possible.

And anyone complaining about consoles, consoles where around as gaming machines way before most computers had any capability to play games, it's them that should feel threatened by us really.

Being serious now, I think there's a lot of people who would like to see DLC, simply because a lot of us have ploughed through the game.

But on the issue of mods for PC....there isn't a lot of substantial content out there at the moment, in all honesty. There's any number that add an enchanting table or mannequins or such to the whiterun house or similar in other houses. There's utility ones such as allowing your horse to carry stuff etc. There's any number of clothing, armour, weapon and nekid people mods...and there's a lot of 'comedy' or just plain weird stuff...but there really isn't much of anything substantial. Sure, you can argue that having the choice of ten dozen extra types of swords or a bunch of extra fantasy type armour or armoured bikinis for the women is content, but seriously, it's not DLC and it doesn't have the same impact as DLC...there's only so much entertainment from a different type of sword or tuning a mammoth into a chicken.

The mods just add a bit more fun, atm :P for example, Midas Magic makes the game a million times more enjoyable while playing as a mage.

Agreed, but they don't compare to actual DLC...and we shouldn't think that they do. Despite the hype being trotted out about the number on Steam workshop, and the number downloaded, there's an awful of rubbish there.

I said on a thread in the last couple of days that the game's popularity may have outrun Beth's release schedule...so many people have actually worked their way through this game, and spent so much time on it, that this next month would be an optimal time to release the first DLC...it would be nice, but I don't think we'll see it for another 2 or 3 months, at least (just a guesstimate).

The other aspect is that DLC will be cross-platform, unless deals have been done with MS and Sony. The Hi Res pack was only released on PC because it doesn't work with consoles, that's just a fact of life, same with the creation kit. I suspect that the Hi Res was a post release add on simply because if it had been included in-game initially, a lot of PC gamers wouldn't have been able to run the game, and the game specs would be so high that only current generation rigs would run it comfortably, which would cut out a lot of PC'ers.

Read a new article saying things like new DLC is going be bigger than we may be expecting and the they plan to take their time to make it "perfect"

"we want to put little things out for free in between. We've already done that for PC with the high-res pack. We're trying to figure out what those things are."

I agree I don't want half finished bugged DLC, that is what we got with Skyrim.

this, Skyrim was the worst BGS title in optimization and bugs causing various issues that still are present in today's game. Unlike others I despise the sell it then fix it later (patch it later) developers and/or publishers been pushing releasing a rushed if not incomplete title altogether and charging full price for them. Bugs are inevitable yes but the amount of bugs present can be avoided and some of the issues that are present in the unpatched version such as missing textures on 360, maginutude of issues on PS3 and ram leak on PC is something you cannot miss.

You do know that consoles are just pre-built limited use computers right? There is no difference between a Personal computer (PC) hardware and a atari, 360, n64, PS, etc.

Even though I dont want to rush DLC to prevent bugs I still want to rush DLC...

Hoping for some new skills and armor types along with new areas not just new areas to store [censored] weapons and armor...

That's only because the CK was released only recently. Give modders a while to tinker with it and you'll be amazed by what they can do. Mods for Oblivion like The Lost Spires had a much larger impact on me than Knight of the Nine, and I'm sure there are others who are inclined to agree with that.

no matter how long you wait there will always be horrible mods only a few out of the bunch are actually decent and unlike any DLC from Bethesda someone else created that mod using their time. So no CK is not a pure benefit because they would not be useful unless you have a decent community to utilize the tools.

And as I said in every other DLC dissusion I doubt they will release their first official DLC before a year after launch so around novemeber Todd stated they are doing larger dlc (or expack what ever you call it DLC = X-pack) therefor believe it will release around the same time SI did compared to Oblivion's launch. Tiny add ons may be included as well maybe but don't count on those.

All I want for DLC is a marriable female Khajiit that can also be a follower, and a item or place or npc that lets you change your face again,I hate not being able to wash off the dirt from my face or change my facepaint or hair. Its the least that can be done for console players,PC's already have that luxury with "Showracemenu"

I'd gladly pay 5$ to 10$ for either of those.

my game has had zero bugs with any quest including blood on the ice, even with the original version of the game no patches. every single patch that remains the same, it's never bugged. i don't get why so many people complain about it

Bethesda always brags about how awesome the modding community is, so I would like to see them grab some of the more popular mods from the community and include them into XBOX and PS3 DLCs. If soem modders have already made new types of weapons and armor and added things to the houses, or added requirements to have to eat, drink, and sleep and such. Why can't Bethesda look into these and make them available for the consoles.. Obviously anything that would change the content rating of the game could not be added, but still it would offer more up to the console players. They could even charge a couple bucks for them to offset the cose of converting the mod to the console, I would pay it for some of them. I would imagine they did this with Oblivion, I mean 'cmon horse armor had to originally be a mod... right?

You can't downgrade they are installed onto the disk so yes you have patches the release on each platform was horrible the day 1 patch fixed various issues found by those that had the game early.
