Console Hot-keys

Who else thinks they're a joke? It's a complete step back from Oblivion's, which had 8. Now we have only 2. I don't see why they didn't use a different button for favorites. They could have made favorites the Back/Select button, and made waiting a menu thing instead.

I really dislike the feel of pausing combat as a caster.

I liked oblivions hot-key system but when you tried to diagonally select a weapon you were screwed

Not really the same thing.... but I hate how you can down endless potions in the blink of an eye. THAT ruins combat for me. Stopping time completely to do some quick buffs is a little ridiculous.

But yeah, magic just doesn't feel right in this game. The only thing I can manage is destruction/conjuration in either hand or just straight up illusionist. Illusionist particularly, only have to switch between a couple spells which allows for quicker swapping.

I really wish there was an option to enable keyboards on the console. I have a usb keyboard that I could use for hotkeys. Have it sitting next to me and -press f5- i have a fireball. oh damn my atronach died -press f6- summon again -f5-. But then again, you can only ask for so much.

This was a big I had with the 360. 2 doesn't cut it. That was one of the first mods I looked for when I moved to PC. I still play with a big screen plasma and still use a 360 controller. I now have 8 hot keys on the D-pad.

The 8 HK, using the the angles was querky, at times, with Oblivion. This mod uses 4 directions. Then holding the Left Bumper, it gives you a different set of 4. (Holding both Bumpers, will quicksave.)

I hated it before the Kinect update. Now I just use that and the game is way better. I hardly ever go into the menus now and combat is all real time. I know some people on the 360 either hate the idea of it or don't have one but for me it works great. Honestly I don't understand why they just don't do like so many other games and have a button that pulls up a circular selection wheel for the favorites you set to quick select. That's way better than just having 2 selections.

I don't have one, and it would be cool I suppose but I'd rather not talk to my TV late at night when I get urges to play, I think my family would think I'm nuts/can't sleep lol.

Yea i'm lucky in that regard. I'm in my room with the door shut and nobody can hear me unless they come in. I also have the Kinect right in front of me so I don't have to speak loud but I understand if you have a headset with a mic you can talk softly and it will pick up just fine.

Thats the very same idea I had back when the game launched and I posted it here and many people agreed with me. The current HK system is atrocious and whomever designed it is an idiot. Frankly is was moronic to change it from Oblivions system, as it was fine and worked as intended. This curent system handicaps any character class that uses more than 2 skills in combat. Its a joke. And adding Kinect support that only it can organise your inventory just shows that Beth have lost the plot and are out of touch with its customers.
