Console mod manager

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 8:20 pm

I have recently been watching some vids on youtube about some of the mods avalible for skyrim and would love to see them come to console is it possible to create a 'Mod manager/Forum' simalar to COD:ELITE alowing us access to some user created content. I wouldn't even mind if they each had a small fee/anual membership fee.

Mods most likely will not be coming the the current generation of consoles. The consoles have limited hardware currently, mainly system memory. Mods eat up more of it.

Mods on consoles are a violation of the EULA (blame Microshaft and Sony for this) and unfortuantely not up for discussion on the forums.

Mods would work on a console... devs have already tested this on a dev console, putting the mods in will work just like on a PC. The reason that there is issues in doing this is because of security reasons and the possibility of breaking your game.

This isn't true...

While in theory mods would work and they are compatible with dev kits currently, the limited amount of system memory would really limit which mods are available on the consoles. Any graphic enhancing mods would need to be off limits. Mods that add more AI and more objects on screen would have to be very limited as well.

That is completely different there buddy, because in order to get mods to run on console without (Sony & MS) its against the EULA because you have to modify hardware which your not allow to do, that is what there referring too. But Bethesda putting mods on a console is NOT against the EULA, which is what the OP wants.

Like I said you are not correct... and talking about Bethesda adding mod support to consoles is FINE to talk about here. The modifying of hardware to run mods, is not.

True, which is why there would need to be checks in place...but a mast majority of gameplay mods would work without issue.

Whether or not I agree with mods on console isn't the issue. The issue is that currently neither Microshaft nor Sony allow them, and they are the ones with the power to say yes or no to them...and at this moment, the answer is no.

True, the moderators will usually lock these kind of threads because we have talked this issue to death. I was just saying there is no rule about not talking about it though.

And you are correct it comes done to MS and Sony working with BS, I was just pointing out that you are talking about something completely different with regards to the EULA & modding.

Unfortunately it's not Bethesda that's getting in the way of User Content coming to consoles. For the most part, it's Sony and Microsoft.

It's on the Horizon, I can smell it. I suspect that the next generation of Consoles will be far more mod friendly than this generation.

Yea I would say next gen may be better... a lot of developers and Valve are pushing Sony and MS hard to be more of an open platform like the PC.

Working and working well are 2 vastly different things. Just because the devs confirmed mods work doesn't automatically mean the console can support 200+ mods, some of which being HD textures and massive NPC battles.

Hardware limitation IS a factor.

Obviously I said that there would need to be checks in place... there are limitations to any hardware even PC so yes consoles have there limitations.

Please don't make spam posts. It's irritating.

OP, we do not discuss modding consoles as modifying them to add user made content is a violation of warranty/EULA agreements at this time, so it is not a topic we allow here.
