PC vs Console ?

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 5:16 am

hello fellow wastelanders, looking for some info on the PC version and the console version.

i have been on the fence about which version to buy (PC or 360), but let me get my specs and personal preferences out of the way 1st...

my PC- (older CPU)
intel core 2 duo 2.13Ghz
3 G of DDR3 ram
and a nvidia geforce 260GTX.

also, i have been playings games for a long time, im familiar with the usual differences of console vs PC, i'm just curious if theres anything that isn't well known in the community, for example, maybe the PC version won't have the hardcoe mode... (this is just an example not a fact)

i usually go PC 1st on everything but lately i have had a bug in thee ol bummhole for my 360 and have been playing lots of games on it. i have fallout 3 on the PC. it looks great and runs great.

are we sure that theres anti-aliasing and anisotropy on the PC? can we use the wired 360 controller on the PC like you can on fallout 3? (these points are the biggest for me)

usually by now you start hearing (reading) about some of the differences and features of the different versions, but the media has been quiet about this.

as of right now i have my money on the PC version. but let me know what you guys think about what versions your buying.

cant wait till monday night, for the midnight opening!!!

cheers

Gotta agree on that..i bought fallout3 on xbox because back then i didn't have a PC that could support it, 300+ hours into it i still wish i got pc version because i could have played a lot longer and done more stuff if you take into account mods and such.
so in short if you wanna extend your enjoyment of the game for even longer get PC version if not console.

If you interested in mods that can add tons of new gameplay hours, go for PC.
Modding is always the reason I'll get a game for PC if it's also available on consoles.

You have a PC capable of running it. There is nothing consoles can offer that the PC version can't trump hands down.

yeah, like i said i usually, by default, choose PC over console. sometimes with [censored]tier developers they may be doing a multi-platform launch and just "dump" a version onto a DVD for the PC without any of the usual PC features. now as far as obsidian goes, in tandem with bethesda, i'm sure that won't be one of the problems.

just as long is nothing is gutted from the PC version i will be happy.

no, its pretty much just mods.

as far as controls its really just what youre used to. ive played games on pc before and i just cant stand using a m&k.

and as far as graphics, at a certain point they dont matter. console graphics are more than good enough. some people care about them more than others. me? as long as everything looks real its good, i could care less about resolution.

So you say there's no high-res textures, or that aiming with the gamepad sticks is as flexible as with a mouse?

sounds good, thanks guys. just wanted to make sure there were no scary stories about the PC version smelling like a bad private part, or having its limbs torn off to make the console versions look sixier for that 10$ hike up...

LONG LIVE PC!!!!

ah the smell of a new game almost within our grasp now...

the new plastic smell is the best... when i buy a brand new game, after i crack the cellophane, i part the plastic lips and proceed to stick my big nose deep inside and breath in that delicious aroma....

what i typed is what im saying. theres no hidden message there. sure, technically you can aim better and such with a mouse, but being so used to controllers i cant stand using the thing so it doesnt matter.

Don't X-box controllers use USB? (I'm pretty sure that FO3 / FO:NV both support them on the PC).

PC simply for the mouse/programmable keyboard combo. Far easier on the hands/brain imo. Then of course the mods...

Yes, xBox pads do. I bought one off eBay for driving/flying games. Wired controllers are plug-and-play with Vista and 7, but need drivers in XP. Wireless, far as I know, need a driver for Vista, are plug and play in 7, and I'm not even sure if they'll work on XP at all. You're welcome to gimp yourself with a 360 pad if you want, even on PC. New Vegas supports it from what I've heard.

Like I said, the consoles cannot offer anything the PC can't trump handily.

You can't upgrade the important gaming parts of a console and the current consoles are starting to show age against modern PCs. If you have money for a good PC with a good vid card then go that route. If you can't afford a good PC then go console.

I have fallout 3 on ps3 and pc and my pc can run it smoothly but it′s so boring on pc :C
i always have a blast on ps3 but when i play on pc i get bored straight away and after playing on pc.
same with
mw2

but not
dragon age
battlefield bad company 2
My opinion!

i have always thought back on fnv because i pre-ordered it on ps3 but always thinking if i should get it for pc :S

Personally I'd reccommed getting it on the PC, if your comp can handle it. In future you'd probably be able to MOD the game so that'll add stuff to it. I'd get it on PC if my comp didn't explode from installing Oblivion on it :-p Right now I'm getting it on XBOX 360 for that reason. :obliviongate:

There is no difference between the platforms as far as the game is concerned. It is the same exact content. The only difference is where your Trophy/Achievements are tracked (Steam, Live or the PSN). The PC version can use community made mods.

As for your machine, you are fine and can run the game with fantastic performance.
