Console users, how do you immerse yourself in Skyrim?

Post » Sun Jul 22, 2012 5:59 pm

I'm curious how other Skyrim console players immerse them selves in the world of skyrim. We don't have fancy mods to work with so share your tips!

For me I have a 60 inch plasma that helps but I also turn off the in game music, makes me feel more in game.

I really wish I could turn off the stupid compass but not having any HUD or crosshair is worse than having the compass....

Nice monitor, like yours, is cool. Good headset is a must, in my opinion. This helps drown all sound, other than in-game sound, away from your senses. In-game music is preference, I never turned it off, but maybe I'll give it a try. No interruptions, a bunch of junk food, plenty of skooma, and easy access to the pisser.

Personally, (noob, I know) I always have my laptop next to me, so I understand things like making potions, enchantments, smithing etc. I find myself spending hours just focusing on those things some days.

I have my HUD opacity down so that I can only just see it, and and my music at a low level.

Other than that, I find the game does everything for me. I can just switch on my TV and lose hours!

Do what Renee Gade does: put a piece of tape over the compass. :)

I'm newer to TES games so I always have my laptop or iPhone handy to look something up. I find it helps me stay true to character.

Same with me. I always have my phone with me to check things - if a dungeon is related to a specific quest, minor lore details etc.

One of the major things that helps my immersion is a nice high-quality turtle beach headset with surround sound. When my old headset broke I couldn't play anything for a week until I got a new one because the sound quality without the heaset was so poor in comparison to with it.

40" LCD TV, 5.1 surround sound, Lazyboy chair, iPad3 and a cold Diet Coke. I'm set for the next 4-5 hours.

I don't need mods, couldn't care less about em. The game is already fun enough how it is for me, but to keep things even more interesting I try to think of weird builds to play along with the normal ones.

It's all theater of the mind for me. No fancy televisions. No tweaking the HUD. Just envisioning and reacting.
It's all in when you grumble to yourself that "this was a stupid idea" as you hug onto a cliff side trying to shimmy across a sheer expanse.
It's in when you tear your house apart looking for the sodding salt, because you know you bought some salt that afternoon, and if you used it all in Alchemy again, Kynareth take you.
It's in preferring certain foods and drink.
It's in pretending to catch your breath after a battle.
It's in pretending you're looking at an actual map instead of a vast overhead view.
It's in "kissing" your wife goodbye as you leave for another lengthy adventure.

All this and more,

the playable character.

You can have all the fancy mods and a tv the size of a tower, without a character that speaks to you, it aint worth much imo..
