container/merchant inventory problems...

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:29 am

Eventually opening an container or visiting merchants even mobb loot, and looking through whats there, causes everything from hickupps to full freeze and in some cases the game shuts down.
Game runs perfectly in all other ways except this and i cant find any reason for it.

Been reading alot of forum posts to get some help and have tried varied things with no real success.

Since this is a very precise problem and i havent found a fix for it, i was wondering if anyone have had the same problem ?

Grateful for any response to this predicament.

I believe I have the same problem. When I look in my safe in Novac, scroll down through all the stuff I have in it, the game just crashes. The game works good otherwise.

The only mods I have are darnified interface and some lightning-mod, "URWLNV" it's called.

Do you both store a ton of stuff?

Sometimes the item stacking bug can cause inventory crashes. That is, items that that will 'stack' invisibly with other items of the same type, so you don't realize they're there until you start unloading/selling stuff. That one.
So you could try to empty out your entire inventory/containers onto the ground & pick them up one at a time to see what's stacking & separate them by putting them in different containers. Or just sell a lot of stuff. If you encounter items that invisibly 'stack', keep them separate, sell them, or 'damage' them by using them a bit (this tends to unstack them).

If it's not that, then not sure.

Yeah, Im afraid the safe will fall through the floor, that's how much stuff I have in it :D. I shall try and and put the stuff in different containers, thank you :).
