Continuation of Choices?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:54 am

What do you guys think of the next Elder Scrolls game being based off of the choices you made in Skyrim? What I mean by this is that if you sided with the Imperials, you would have a story line based off of the Imperials rule. If you sided with the Stormcloaks, you would have a stormcloak rule. Also, the minor decisions you make would also affect it. If you do the jailbreak quest in Markarth, the Forsworn have a stronger rule in the next game. The closest game I can think of that does this is "Dragon Age II". The decisions you made in "Dragon Age Origins" completely affect your gameplay of "Dragon Age II". Would you guys like this? Or would you prefer that your decisions only affect Skyrim.

Not all DA:O choices carry over (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.274827-David-Gaider-says-Bioware-decides-what-dead-means-in-Dragon-Age-2?page=1).
The trouble with this is that the lead development platform is Xbox, not PC, and the next ES will be on next generation consoles, so carrying saves over is problematical. Without a save, you end up starting the game with a questionnaire. Some might like that, but I can't see hoe it would fit with BGS's approach to streamlining, and getting us 'straight into the action'.

everything happens...at once....so every choice you make will be irrelevant in the grand scheme.

It's an interesting idea but I doubt TES:VI will have anything to do with Skyrim. Undoubtedly it will be in a new province and the new lore books will be vague enough to encompass whatever you did in Skyrim.

Any future TES games are likely not to be based in Skyrim. I books they would just say that the dragonborn helped to ease off the fighting in Skyrim between the imperials and the stormcoaks. I suspect that nothing which the dragonborn does will effect any future games. In oblivion you help Martin but in Skyrim it just says that Martin sacrificed himself and saved the day without any mention of help from the CoC.

No, every time we play it's technically a dragon break. A million thing happen all at once (all the choices we make in our own games), and they're all true. Even if they're wrong.

And with DAO, you can kill Leliana, or she might commit suicide at the end. She was supposed to be dead.

Yes it does, The Oblivion Crisis is all about CoC, but even that's kind of vague.

It's also possible that he didn't. If you played the main quest but never decided to go to the Shivering Isles, then it's not you. At least I don't think the guildmaster of the fighter's guild, arch mage, grey fox, and listener necessarily had to be the same person. All that's for sure is that someone carried out each of those duties, whether you decided to roll a hero, villian, or something in between.
There's only one person who knows the truth, and he's crazy. He may have been there during the whole Oblivion Crisis, but he never definitively said he was CoC

Considering all the facts that it is....i guess if you decided not play it then he isn't of course all based on if the player wants it to be so for me he is anyway just depends on if you want it to be or not.

It may seem like a good idea.. but then you have to consider that you're wanting other games developers to be more like Bioware ..

Not Good..

I'm not really saying that I want them to be like Bioware, I just think that it's a decent idea.

I kinda doubt this would be a problem. Carrying files from your 360 to the new gen Xbox shouldn't be that big a deal. Unless the file type simply isn't compatible.

I for one would love for the next ES game to be something like this because I'm very curious as to how things would play out on either side. I would love to pick a side (Probably the Empire) and build their ranks and take the fight to the Thalmor.
