Control glitches since Windows 8

I recently upgraded to Windows 8, and am having a serious game-ruining issue with Skyrim.

Within the game, my controls are glitchy, in that my character seems to sometimes get stuck on the ground and I have to release and press the W key to move forward... If my character jumps, he will land and then continue moving in whichever direction I am pointing him with the mouse until I can force him to stop, by jamming on the S key or making him jump again.

My graphics card is a GTX 680, and the game ran beautifully in Windows 7, in ultra-high quality. I have played it for months with ZERO issues, until Windows 8 came along.

My keyboard is new, and otherwise works perfectly. I've tried another keyboard, but the same issue occurs. I decided to try a new keyboard since there were control issues, but this is apparently not the issue.

I have updated to the most recent nvidia firmware, and even the newest beta software, but it doesn't help.

I've tried removing the game through Steam, uninstalling all traces of Steam, and reinstalling the whole thing...but nothing changes.

I've tried all the in-Steam options for game repair... no difference.

I miss my Skyrim...it is unplayable in its current form. If my character is moving forward, and I press the S key, any animations for my character will freeze, which leads me to think it is a graphics card issue.

I honestly don't know how to proceed, but like I said, I MISS MY SKYRIM!!!
