What kind of controller do you have? If you have a wired 360 controller it should work right out of the box with no remapping required. If you're trying to use a wireless 360 controller with the Play and Charge kit, that won't work. You'll need a http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows-Pc/dp/B000HZFCT2

You cannot use a X-BOX or PS3 or any other controllers because the game is meant for the PC.

Only a mouse and keyboard will work if you wanted to play with controllers go buy a xbox or ps3 game version of this.

Erm, incorrect. The game is built in with Xbox 360 controller functionality out of the box.

Again, you are mistaken. The PC version of New Vegas comes with full built-in functionality for Xbox 360 controllers.

@ichigo0987: Hi. I'm not familiar with the type of controller you have. Does it have its own keymapping software? If not, try http://www.xpadder.com/. If you're unable to get the controller you have working correctly with Xpadder, you might want to try a Xbox 360 controller. A generic wired 360 controller costs about $20 and requires no keymapping or fussing around.

Best of luck to you.

Well, Why would you want to play fall out new vegas with a 360controller when you can play on a x box and it would be easier would it not?

It's a matter of preference. Some people enjoy using mouse/keyboard and others prefer using a controller.

Some people like better graphics and mods which the PC provides but they still prefer a controller to play.

I like to know should the desire hit (Hasn't yet.) I can pass the signal from my PC's 24" monitor to my 40" TV and lay in bed with my wireless 360 controller to play. With mods, and nicer graphics.

Nothing wrong with choices.

I would advise that you get an Xbox 360 controller with the wireless adapter. Any games that support a gamepad on the PC will support that controller right out of the box.

As for the person wondering why someone would want to play with a gamepad on the PC. Well because a mouse keyboard combo doesn't work well on the couch or recliner. And as a PC user I would think you would know why your would want to play Fallout New Vegas on the PC... But for me it is the improved graphics and mods.
