AP Cost for the Hunting Rifle

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:18 pm

Was anyone else surprised to find that the Hunting Rifle cost 60 AP to fire once in VATS? I do really enjoy the weapon and have been looking forward to tricking mine out as soon as possible, but the experience is just a little soured by this seemingly unnecessarily-high cost.

The Sniper Rifle, even, costs only 38 AP, and does significantly more damage. Just makes little sense to me.

I'm with you on this one, the Hunting Rifle was a FO3 favorite of mine... little strange how much higher the AP cost is compared to the Sniper Rifle. :shakehead:

ummm.....Should never need to use VATS with this gun anyway. So it doesn't matter what the AP cost is.

That's irrelevant, though. Yes, if I didn't use VATS there would be no problem. But it's a pretty large game mechanic that I would like to use, at least from time to time. I don't want to have that spoiled by only being able to get off one shot.

I would love to know the thought process behind the decision to have this rifle have the second-highest AP cost of EVERY other weapon, behind the Anti-Material Rifle and the Thermic Lance (tied at 65). Seems very arbitrary.
