Counter-Strike: Global Offensive : Othor Games

Just spend all day playing the new Counterstrike Global Offensive #CSGO at the #Valve HQ ! God I love my job.. oh and yeah... its that good!

Valve will announce a new Counter-Strike game today called Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, if talk from names claiming to be close to the project are anything to go by.

E-Sports Entertainment, a game community tool and anti-cheat tech provider posted on its Facebook page the message; "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive...More info in the morning" three hours ago.

The message comes along with a picture of ESEA's Craig Levine at Valve's studio, apparently there to help develop the game.

As if that wasn't enough, Valve's own Jess Cliffe teased a group of speculating fans on the Steam message boards simply by repeating the words "Global Offensive."

There are still no solid details about what Global Offensive is, with some speculating that it will be a console version of the PC release.

Niiiiice.
I've played no game more than Counter Strike and CS:S (okay maybe Morrowind), we even used to play it in our school computer lab back in 2001 when I was 11. Fond memories of spending all of our time in the internet cafe pwning people way older than us. I haven't played much in the last few years, but I'm definitely psyched for a new version (shhh don't mention CZ...).

Bring back cs_siege with drivable APC plz.

I just PRAY that they have a decent aiming system in the game. CS:S was a great game until they FUBAR'd the stupid system. Amazing that i'm 3 inches away from a person's head and can't get a headshot with the Desert Eagle. Proves that the whiners got into the game and only wanted the AK-47 and M16 to have the power.

At least the aiming system was better than in 1.6 :huh:

My friend told me on Facebook ealier while the forums were down. I'm sooo excited. I really like the promise that they'll stay true to Counter Strike and it's play style. Counter Strike Source was my first online game, so it definitely holds fond memories for me.

Why is it that everytime I think they should make a sequel/nex-gen of a game it happens? I was JUST thinking they should make a new CS and BLAM I see this...

As someone who played thousands of hours of the first one this is my most anticipated game now.

But a few things that I am hoping for:
No micro-transactions. NONE. Keep that for portal and TF2, I don't have any interest in them being in CS.
I don't care what it's released for but it better not feel like a port
NO HATS
Good hitboxes
Balanced but different weapons
Keep what worked and try to fix what didn't. If my defuses get blocked by a kit I will strongly consider punching my monitor.
No grenade launchers, please, spare us.
Make the hostages not [censored] (We can't say that.. see: developmentally challenged)
Make VIP official
Balanced maps (preferable perfect symmetry on both sides)
Make something better than ETA for balancing teams
Run speed should be the sum of the weight of all the items your carrying not just the speed of what weapon you're using. I'm more hoping for this than anything, I think it would be cool.
NO PERKS. It's based on skill not how you set up your class.

And you may want to update the OP as it's not just speculation, they have it listed on Steam now.

Why not?,

I don't like being asked to pay for parts of a game I already own in the first place. Never mind micro transactions mean unique items which would kill the feel of the game to me. I don't want CS the hat simulator and I don't want to have to "find" guns so I can purchase them with in game currency.

I enjoy it but I'd rather if it didn't have micro transactions. I don't like the transformation that's its gone through, I think it was best pre-hats.

I may keep my eye on it. Don't know if I'm ready to get back into FPS games just yet. I just found this out today.

Here's a little something for PS3 owners:

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will officially feature cross-platform play between the PS3, PC and Mac, Kotaku reports. To make the battlefield fair, PS3 players will be able to play with a keyboard and mouse; to make the battlefield completely favor PC/Mac users, PS3 players will also have the option of using a Move motion controller. Xbox 360 players will be able to play with a 360 controller, and maybe a live cat if they can figure out how to plug it in correctly (Protip: tail first.)

Valve bossman Gabe Newell has said he'd like to implement Steamworks on Xbox 360, but Microsoft has repeatedly resisted, instead placing restrictions on Xbox Live functionality. Global Offensive is Valve's second title after Portal 2 to use Steamworks on the PS3, and no one has burned down the Sony servers yet. Well, mostly
