Cover Based Shooters and Bullet Sponges don't mix

Dear Id:

I loved the Dead City and even the sewer optionals, there was a plenty of fun in circle strafing muties and in melee or popping out shotgun clips.

I can't say the same for fighting ranged enemies. I get the drill, hid behind cover, move away from the one or two grenades they throw in a 15 second period, pop out for a few headshots, repeat until area's clear. There is absolutely no danger in these encounters yet they take forever. Why is it necessary to empty an AR clip into their heads to take them down?

The only time they add anything to the experience is when the large minigun guys show up, which force the player to keep moving while at the same time worrying about line of sight and killzones. They should be used as expandable, easy to kill support troops for more dangerous (and better suited for this game) close range enemies, not as padding for entire mission areas.

Use the sniper rifle or the pistol with fatboys or fat mammas instead - problem solved.

Depends on your play style, personaly i played in many ways, moving, picking targets and dropping them whilst moving on to more targets, popping in and out of cover and sometimes depending where i was i also used stealth and steel tipped arrows in places where i did not want to be seen or heard. You don't need to play the game as a cover shooter all the way through the campaign, just my 2 c.

Cheers-

Ronin.
