cowboy repeater and latest patch

Is it just me or the weapon is now twice more buggy then before the patch?

Yup. all weapons that load one bullet/shell at a time are screwed up.

Aye, this bug supposedly existed before the patch but I never saw it myself. Not saying it wasn't there mind you, but I used a Brush Gun for most of the last half of my playthrough, and never ran into this.

Now, post-patch, I can't use a lever-action without it happening.

Thank gawd they got all over repatching to fix the "monsters are essential" effect added by the patch...I guess those of us who like lever-actions get to grab our ankles and smile until the "comprehensive" patch at some indeterminate point in the future under the old RSN (Real Soon Now) banner. :banghead:

Can someone describe the bug you're talking about? I noticed with certain weapons I sometimes can't fire or reload when crouching, but I'm not sure if this has to do with a bug or one of the mods I'm using.

That is the bug they are referring to. Happens with any type of weapon that loads ammo one unit at a time, Cowboy Repeater among them.

If you "only" can't fire or reload, you've got it good.

If I make the mistake of moving the mouse (at all- sight point moves one pixel) while reloading any lever-action or other weapon that reloads "one cartridge at a time," while crouching, I can't do anything for a good 15-20 seconds afterward. Fire, zoom, VATS, inventory, even the menus for hitting the Escape key won't work. Of course whatever I was shooting at when I reloaded can still move, with obvious consequences. :D

Gotcha, so that probably is what I'm seeing. For me it seems like standing up fixes the issue immediately. It's annoying, though. I just started seeing that the other night when the game got updated. I started using a few new mods at the same time, so I wasn't sure where it was coming from. Thanks guys!

While I play the game, I tend to not reload in battle but swtich out weapons. Going from one to another and back again using Hot Keys has always been faster for me to reload as the game reloads the gun when switching them out. I think on the consoles you can use the triggers or bumpers to do this.

Has anyone tried this with the Cowboy Repeater to see if that works? I am just curious as I don't use this gun anymore (and never crouched while using when I had it)

This is how it goes for me: after reloading the Cowboy Repeater, the following controls don't work: VATS, PIPboy, hotkeys, and zoom. (Yesterday ESC wouldn't work either, but it's working today. :shrug: ) Clicking the mouse once will not fire your gun, but it will reactivate the controls. moving while standing also reactivates the controls.

This happens every time I reload, doesn't matter whether I'm crouching, moving, or standing. If you're running and shooting from the hip, you likely won't notice, but if you're sneaking, or sniping from a stationary position, it's more annoying.

Also, if you reload in VATS, your character will freeze and the VATS session won't end. The enemy willl keep attacking you in slow motion until one of you dies. (Veronica killed him for me, thus ending the VATS session.) Fun!

This works provided you switch before you fire the last round in the gun and the reload starts. I do this a lot with shotguns; lead with the hunting shotgun, and just switch to the riot shotgun as I continue to approach instead of bothering to reload the hunting shotgun.

You can also just tap the fire button once after you reload which seems to kill the script that is hanging up your character after reloading. It won't fire, it'll just get you 'unstuck' so to speak.

Strange. I'm not experiencing any bugs like the one you guys are describing.

Pre-patch, I couldn't reload the thing while moving because I'd be inactive for 10 seconds if I did. Now it works fine (just don't aim down the sight until after the animation stops).

The only bug I seem to have is that it sometimes plays the last part of the reload animation after firing after a reload, but that's a relatively small bug and it's better than not being able to do anything for 10 seconds (when that happens around Cazadores, you're more than screwed).

I didn't have much of a problem pre-patch--sometimes the gun wouldn't fire for several seconds after reloading, but I never lost any other controls. Now it's every time, but at least it's easy to recover from.

Just never let it reload in VATS.

It's definitely much worse after the patch. Prior to the patch, I would get the issue once in a blue moon. Now I'm getting the issue pretty much constantly (specifically with the lever-action shotgun which is my "varmint" killer to use up all that 20ga ammo I saved up).

No update yet from the author of the http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36317, but they're working on it.

Yeah, I was never even aware of this issue until the last patch. :)

this happens to me all the time.

i use the hunting shotgun which loads one at a time and after i reload i have to wait six seconds about, to use my weapons, this happened to be the reason i sold my .357 magnum.

on a side note how many patches are out for ps3 and how do i download them for my ps3

In my game Hot Keys do not work. PipBoy does not work. F keys do not work and Esc does not work until I either hit "fire" again (which may or may not fire the weapon) or wait like a tool for the game to do . . . whatever the heck it's doing down there in the Ninth Circle of Software Engineering.

NEVER EVER experience this pre-patch - and I logged 70+ hours before the patch.

Never had the bug before the PC patch this week. Now, it's sure to strike every time I reload one of the effected weapons. A large chunk of the guns category has become useless thanks to this.

Interesting, i am on a console and whenever i switch to a revolver, hunting/lever shotty instead of being fully loaded it only has one round chambered. can be devastating when i really need my CQ firepower.

I'm having this issue off and on since the patch, but not before. On a PC.

.357 revolver is completely bugged out now.
Been using it throughout my whole play-through, now since patch I've been having all sorts of problems with it!

Freezing when reloading;
True-/ Iron-sights not working;
True-/ Iron-sights misaligned;
Firing into the air rather than at target...

Oddly enough I'm actually getting an issue where the reloading animation will play continuously unless interrupted by me by pressing the fire button, which stops the reload without firing, ie., empty the .357 and he keeps putting rounds into the gun while spinning the chamber on an endless loop.
Does this with the cowboy repeater as well, haven't gotten to any other single load weapons.

It's much better than before where I would get the move but can't shoot lockup all the time with those weapons.
