Crafting Arrows and Dragonbone weapons

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:09 pm

So we can recreate the ancient Dwemer and Nordic weapons and armor, even create an armor set out of dragon bones but not weapons from dragon bones or arrows? I'm not sure why this hasn't been implemented in the game, I mean to make a set of arrows all it would take is an ingot of any metal (iron, steel, ebony etc.) a feather and some fire wood or something similar and could help create them instead of travelling all over Skyrim to find a trader who happens to have like 5 Ebony Arrows or such. Same goes with Dragonbone weapons, all armor sets have their respective weapons and shields, while the Dragonbone Armor set only gets a shield. Can we expect anything like this being added to the game so that we don't have to rely on mods for everything? Especially the console users.

About a month ago, I had some thoughts on arrow forging.

I'd love to see console users using mods. But really, something liek this should have already be in the game in the first place, hope they would add it in the future.

Well you get what you pay for. Mods can fix it, but since you went with the cheaper and much more inferior option, no mods for you.
I don't expect to compete in F1 racing with my Peugeot 206 either.

Microsoft And Sony don't allow mods on their hardware.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see these features in DLC. If they are stand alone DLC I won't be buying them. I'm already running mods that let me do these things.....

Will you pack off!!! Really, is there any need to try and start a platform war????? Why don't you do something productive and walk off a cliff :stare:

Back on topic, I really do hope that dragon weapon crafting and fletching end up included with a dlc.(or maybe thrown into a patch, wink wink nudge nudge  )

I would imagine dragon bone weapons would greatly resemble daedric in shape.

Seems like my comment on mods on consoles was taken more serious than I thought it would  I was being sarcastic, but that Escapist article was really interesting. Would actually love for it to be real ;_; I mean, no point in console wars, I play Skyrim on my 360 and on my PC. 360 for visual quality (my PC aint high end) and PC for mods. But would love to use mods on consoles. But as someone mentioned, these and other fixed and addition would be very nice to see in future DLCs.

Also would like to mention that PC version of the game is way cheaper than the console one. Clever comment is clever!

Shut up, he didnt ask for mods on consoles in the first place. He just said that arrow crafting and dragonbone weapons should have been in the game. You can't blame someone for buying a console.

But anyways I always thought arrow crafting should have been included in the first place too.

I would love to run some mods and it is possible Beth. uses a console to show the game at conventions and what not and that console has a program that works like the creation kit for pc so they are able to add/remove stuff to the game but the name of the console eludes me( it like a devkit console or something) anyway the capability is there it's MS and Sony that are keeping it from us out of fear( third party modding, quality control etc...etc...) But hopefully in the foreseeable future we will get it.

Arrows I agree. Should be able to craft them, honestly they should be easier to craft than the weapons or armor.

Dragonbone weapons.... No. Are you going to run around with a tooth/claw as your sword? Bone(I don't care if it is a dragon) doesn't make or hold the sharpest edges. It is strong, so armor makes sense, but you can not shape it like you can hot metal. You 'could' have dragonbone weapons, but they would be inferior to iron weapons. Leave them out... please leave them out.

Morrowind for instance had a lot of bone armor, but you didn't see bone weapons for the same reason. Bone doesn't form or hold a very sharp edge... teeth/claws being the exception but they are only good for stabbing with the point, the edge isn't very sharp. Dragonbone weapons would end up resembling foresworn bone weapons(teeth sticking out of a stick) and be about as effective(which they are more effective than they should be). Ancient civilizations had bones long before they had metal(bronze, iron, steel); there are reasons you find weapons made of the one and not the other.

Won\t let me upload links, but search for Dragon Bone Weapon Pack 01 on Skyrim Nexus. Best one's I've seen, they look like they were taken right from the game.

Yes, I would love to run around with a sword, dagger, bow etc. made of dragon teeth/claws. And if bone armor makes sense (seeing how bone should be easier to destroy than metal) so do weapons. Besides, we're talking about 'ralistic' weapons in a game filled with dragons, mages and demons. ;D

Carfting arrows, OK
Crafting dragon weapons, NO

You can reinforce an armor with scales and bones but crating a weapon?
Melting would not work and reinforcing seams ... stupid. (ok maybe a 2hd hammer)

Also, never intended, you can see this on the Smithing perk-tree.
Stell, Dwarven, Orc, Ebony, Daedric covers "2" categories - heavy + weapon
Elven, Glass also covers "2" categories - light + Weapon
Advance, Dragon.. "2" categories - light + heavy

Bone can be carved if we can have weapons made out of glass I dont see why we cant have weapons made out of bone.
