PC crashed now I got console controls, what gives?

I was playing Skyrim when my computer just decided to lock up completely.
I had to do a hard reboot to get it running again.

When I started up the game again after the lockup the game controls was suddenly console based rather than Mouse/Keyboard based.

All controls in the game, including options was no longer controllable using my mouse/keyboard, it was as if I was suddenly playing a console version of the game.
There was no option to change the controls to keyboard/mouse either, all I had was the console control options.

Can someone please explain to me how this is possible and if there is a way to fix this, or do I have to spend 2+ hours redownloading and reinstalling the game?

Go to My Documents/My Games/Skyrim, and delete Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini

Launch the game.

Did that already, did not help.
The game recreates the files with console controls, but no options to change it to keyboard mouse
I even reinstalled the game and it still gives me the console controls.

If I didnt know better I would say I suddenly had a console version of the game rather than PC, but I honestly cant see how that can even be possible.

In all my years of computer gaming I have never seen anything like this happen before, its as if I was playing the game on a console not a PC.
I have played for 115 hours, had countless CTDs and even a couple bluescreens, but I never had the controls change in any way whatsoever when that happened.

Do you have a controller plugged into your PC?

Do you have a controller plugged into your PC?

That did it, thanks.
I have a wireless controller, but never had it react like this before.
Disconnected it and that solved the issue, thanks

NP ya it does plug and play if it is active....same for DX HR which is pretty cool(especially when it is wireless as you can just kill the connection to switch back and forth). Enjoy mate

Actually I just removed the receiver from the USB port.
Its so small you only have maybe half an inch sticking out from the USB port.
And because its so small the controller have been designed with a small hole under the battery lid where you can store the receiver when you dont use it so you dont lose it.

Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710, in case you're wondering.
