CrashFreeze thing

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 7:14 am

Sometimes while playing Brink it will freeze up, the screen will go black, and the last sound will play on a loop. The only way to get out of it is to reboot the computer. Any suggestions?

I spent about an hour to find fixes bcs my game freezes as well. Sometimes gaming ends to black screen and looping sound, sometimes to white screen but I can hear normal game sounds. Sometimes the whole computer freezes, altctrldel doesnt work.

Here are some fixes I found: (sound like a shot in the dark)

- Press ALT+TAB to get out of Brink and allow the windows firewall or other security notification work.
- Disable the anti-virus programs. (Check out "Others" below)
- Disable all unnecessary background applications. (Check out "Others" below)
- Update the BIOS on your computer.
- Download the latest version of your DirectX.
- Download an earlier version of your video card's current driver. (Do not use "Roll back" option)
- Don't force tripplebuffering via your craphics card's controlpanel.
- Try different resolution of your monitor.
- For Nvidia video card users, try downloading and installing the Nvidia 270.61 driver
- For AMD (ATI) video card users, try download and installing the AMD Catalyst 11.5
- For AMD users, download and install the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer version 1.1.4
- For nVidia users: Download and install EVGA Brink SLI profile. (Performance and stability)
- Right click the BRINK and select "Run as Administrator".
- Right click the BRINK and click troubleshoot incompatibility issues.

Other:

- Download and install GBoost to shut down all unnecessary background processes (bandwidth and memory hungry processes). (I have used this for a long time and can assure it works in the net issues and performance issues. Apparently it doesnt fix freezes)

If none of these "fixes" work then the problem is in the game itself and can be fixed only by a patch.

I won't be playing Brink for quite a while(due to school), I will be sure to bookmark this as it may be a very useful post. Thank you.

I am having the same issue. I can play for over an hour sometimes but the crash has happened 3 times in the last 3 hours, which is a bit much for my liking. Game doesn't even seem to be working my cards too hard, they don't even spin up very loud.
