What specific crashes are you having? Is it lagging, sound problems, just plain crashing to desktop or locking up the computer?

Also please post a DXDIAG so we can help you a little better. Information on how to do so is http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1122570-how-to-dxdiag/ Just copy/paste it and please post it in

PC gaming I still like more mainly for the ease of use of the mouse, the modding in insane and more than worth it. The bugs are a constant thing though. Usually there not this bad, some minor things but nothing like this. I do all consoles also but prefer PC gaming when I have the option for one or the other.

Did you try the INI fix?

Here's an example: http://trebleclick.blogspot.com/2009/04/fallout-3-crash-fix.html

Of course i think if you modify your INI you wont get any steam achievements but i'd rather the game not crash to be honest.

OK, forgive me if I make this seem basic but I'm going to try to explain it. It's going to need some technical work to get it done unless you want to wait for a patch. If you think you can manage it, this will give you a idea of what's involved to get it running until a official patch comes out.

The ini file is like editing a word document, you search for certain strings (lines of code like "Npcheadgen=1") and alter them from 1's to 0's or vise versa depending on what you want. You have to go into windows explorer to find it.

ALWAYS make a backup before editing ANYTHING. I make a folder (right click in the folder, left click on "new folder", name it whatever... I usually do "Original files". Then right click on the file your going to edit, left click on "copy"... then right click on that folder "Original files" or double click to go inside it and then right click on the background inside it and left click on "Paste". It sounds complicated... but it's really not and it will save your ass when your turning things back to the way they were originally.

Also there is a new fix that requires you to download a file, you just add it to your New Vegas folder and run the game. This one fixes some crashes, but makes the game studder a little. You just erase the file when they fix it in a official patch.

Hope this helps explain a little of what is needed. Trying not to talk to technical :D

EDIT: The
ending one goes after the DXDIAG so it hides the whole thing. So you would paste your text like this ...
DXDIAG here
ALSO... a tool I like to use, free, you can see if your computer meets the required specks http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/ Sometimes you actually can run the game when it says you can't... but it's 80-85% accurate and tells you specifically what is lacking, like your video card, RAM, processor, etc.

oh well actually ive had 2 things.... ive had LOTS of lagging, and one time to the point where it crashed to the desktop and i couldnt play it until i exited out and started it up again, and then just the random crashing to the desktop and i couldnt play again until i exited out of it and started it up again... and i have no idea what you guys are talkin about lol im not to good at computer stuff so i dont rly know anything about mods and stuff like that.... i do know tho that my stuff is high enough to play FNV on high details or watever

Friend, you are contradicting yourself.
One the one hand you say you know your rig can play everything on high details,
But on the other hand you're saying you have lots of lagging.
Which is it?
Try starting up your PC fresh, with all programs (Antivirus etc.) disabled.
Hopefully your PC is not infected, and is DiskChecked and Defragged.
Edit: I read your DXdiag, that vidcard is feeble.
You cannot play 1920x1080 with high settings, heheh...
Try Fallout at a reasonable setting, like Medium preset, no AA and maybe 4x AF. No V-sync of course.
After all this, your game might still crash!
But at least then you will know that it's the game (and not your rig) with problems...

Link in my sig.

It helps with frame rates. Ignore the fact it reads the wrong GPU in the launcher, as that is what it is supposed to do. Just reset all the settings you want manually if the auto medium is not to your liking.

Link in my sig.

Thanks :)

@ OP - if you need step by step instructions on how to do these things just ask. Lots of us on here don't mind at all posting how to get this thing running. We just use the operating system your running to tell us how to do what needs to be done and post everything (your operating system was in your DXDIAG, Windows 7, so we know this already). As long as your not a butt to people on these forums they usually will help you to the ends of the earth :)

EDIT: the lag is the game. It's a confirmed bug sadly, as long as your not like... a $300 PC trying it in full settings that is :D

I'm in the same boat. I've tried numerous things and recommendations from my friends but nothing works. I still "crash to the desktop". As a last ditch effort i just tried running it on Low. Still crashed after about ten minutes. This Crashing problem has to be related to the software of the game. It has to be. Time to just sit on our hands and wait for a patch to fix all this crap.
