Creating New NPC Races

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 4:09 am

New to editing so I apologize if their is a simple solution I am missing.
Ok, so I wanted to make some creature companions and wanted to make a new race for them to edit some properties without modifying the original race.

For a simplified example, lets say I wanted to create a new bear race and a new actor that used the new bear race. So I goto the race section, right-click "bearblackrace" and duplicate it, then rename it to "bearblackrace2". I then goto the actors, select "EncBear" and duplicate it and rename it to "EncBear2". I try to place EncBear2 into breezehome via the cell editor and it works (its a duplicate so its race is still "bearblackrace"). I then delete the bear from breezehome and edit the actor "EncBear2" and change its race to "bearblackrace2" and press ok. I try to place it into breezehome via the cell editor and the box forms but the model will not show up. In game the bear is there but is invisible (can hear it and it fights you).

Why is this? Are the races being referenced somewhere I am not seeing? They were direct duplicates so why wouldnt it work. And when the actor duplicate has the regular race selected it works, but the duplicate race causes problems.

Tried duplicating the Giant Race and even recreated it.

Model would never show up here either.

We have to be missing something or something is not right in CK when it comes to Races..

Has anybody got Races to get duplicated yet or create new ones at all have the model show up correctly..

First, under Copied Data, set BretonRace for Morph Race and Armor Race. Morph Race sets this race to use any face morph and http://www.creationkit.com/HeadPart assigned to BretonRace. Armor Race automatically flags this race for all armor pieces, otherwise armor or clothing won't be visible later when we check in-game.

Same answer as this, you may find its the 'Morph' setting not being set to 'bear' or whatever it was you duplicated, getting that part sorted out fixed my Breton Warrior race when starting a fresh game.
