Creation Kit Installation - Can it be limited to one machine

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 11:28 am

Question to anyone who has the creation kit installed, who have the game installed on a few machines within their household under the same account.

I want to install the CK (no, I am not certified nuts, although this decision may lead to that)

But I only want to install on one machine - Is that possible, or is it like the DLC Hi-Res packs where you cannot decide which machines get it; They all do because steam just goes ahead and dumbly installs on all of them ?

I am being cautious (once bitten twice shy after the DLC), because I do not want to introduce another bandwidth hog on all machines which is irreversible without a support ticket routine with valve to get rid of it afterwards.

You can install CK on as many or as few machines as you want. As long as you don't give your Steam PW to anyone else, it doesn't install spontaneously.

No I dont intend giving my password to anyone else, but I do own three computers, all of which I have installed the game under the same account. So I believe it would then install on all three machines, which is un-desireable.

So I guess the conclusion will be I need to buy another copy of the game for my own use under a different account just to use the CK

Oh well. Thats that idea shot.

The Creation Kit is a separate download on the tools tab. Downloading it once won't tie it to your account forever and make it auto-download like the texture pack DLC. So no problem there.

But it's also not a very big download. 20 MB or so, I think.

Thank you Povuholo, sounds a lot better than I feared ... Hmm decision time, I can only curse myself from here-on :)
