Creation kit not saving

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 9:34 pm

Hi there. I just downloaded the creation kit (haven't we all :) ) and... I'm stumped: I open it, load skyrim.esm (with and without the update file).

Then, even without doing anything, I click file, save, "test1.esp" and I get "You must close all open dialogue box before saving." (just to be clear, if I happen to have made a change, I still can't save)

the thing is, there isn't a dialogue box... anyone got that or know how to solve it?

Are you sure you don't have any CK windows open that weren't open when you launched it?

Same thing is happening to me. It even happens without loading the skyrim data files. Anyone?

absolutely certain of it. As I said, I didn't touch a thing after loading the data before saving. Heck, even when I try to quit and save it tells me that I have dialogue box opened

Same problem here, just posted a new topic about it... oops.

Hey guys. Figured out how to make it work! When you get the error, hit ok. Once the dialog is gone, hit alt+f4. You will see the screen flicker but now you should be able to save. Some kinda nonsense I say!

Monsters:

I'm not sure how that's working for you. Alt + F4 just closes programs, and it did the same on the Creation Kit for me. I'm still unable to save.

Or go to View -> Show/Hide Windows that will show or hide all open windows, you can select which ones you need

and view -> open windows this one will allow you close all windows

This is a bummer. This isn't working for me either. "Open Windows" shows no windows as being open. I've tried manipulating "Show/Hide Windows" to no avail as well.

If you have a program called Filebox Extender (the thing that adds a favorites menu to the right of the file browser) installed, it currently conflicts causing saving not to work. Similar taskbar/windows extenders may cause the same problem.

Prob. should report this to Bethesda.

Now go make some mods ... no excuses :P

Set the bAllowUnSafeSaves:General INI key to 1 in the editor INI file to disable the warning altogether.

Yep, confirmed, ultramon also produces the issue. Close it and it works!
