using the creation kit & tutorials from youtube to get started, theres a huge problem with meshing and allinging, everythings overlapping- got snap to grid on default setting, (64), but tutorial map looks a mess, gaps, glitches any suggestions?

If you are using the "Kits" of scenery, then 64 isn't always the setting you want ... sometimes 128 or 256 is what you need.

You should be able to tell what is working by trying to snap one piece to another ... They will fit perfect when you get the right value

Thank you I'll give that a try, I'm just using the standard Creation Kit from Steam, just trying to work my way through the tutorials at the moment from youtube at the moment, want to make my own maps & maybe some quests after a few months... Another problem is that when putting new scenes in like a corner or new wall, they are at the default height, is there any way to set the default height to "0"?

Oh, its exactly the question I was asking on another subject :P Is there a way to know which size feets with a specific kit, without trying an hour to make the pieces stack together ?

This is especially a problem with some of the static Imperial Towers sets with internal stairs.
The wall / door section is a beech to try and get it to fit to the tower. Snap to reference doesn't seem to do anything on the settings I have. :(

No way to know, as far as I know. It basically depends how big the pieces are.

But as far as I know, it will always be 64, 128 or 256 ... One of those will see it snap together perfectly.

(although, this only works for the "kits" ... non-kit pieces can be / are just a beech to fit together)

Another problem is that when putting new scenes in like a corner or new wall, they are at the default height, is there any way to set the default height to "0"?
Right click the name of the piece in the CELL VIEW Dialogue (not the render window) and select edit

You can enter 0 for each of the X, Y & Z co-ordinates (z is the up/down one). Best practice to do that (all 3 to 0) with the very first piece you add to the scene.

I also find it crucial to always keep double checking my x & y coordinates against other pieces to be certain they are aligned properly. There's nothing worse than to get a structure nearly completed, to find that the last few pieces are overlapping because you had another wall piece off by 8 or 16 somewhere. In fact, (probably because I'm uber anol), I always place a piece, turn snap to grid off, pull up the new piece's properties, single click it in both directions to be sure it's perfectly aligned. It takes a little longer, but I usually catch mistakes this way.

Been tinkering with the x,y,z spacing thats help the clipping issues thanks to everyone for your help, if there's any more suggestions for anything, by all means feel free to chip in, just trying to make a copy of the example map the one used in the 2nd youtbe tutorial...

Still a very big Noob when it comes to all the new Workshops, used to love making maps for Worms, Timesplitters and on games like Little Big Planet so had to give this a go too :P
