Creation Kit won't stay open(crashing?)

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 10:07 pm

Creation kit keeps instantly closing as soon as I launch it. No error, no "stopped responding" message, nothing.

I made a video showing exactly what's happening but apparently this site doesn't allow you to use anything helpful for diagnosing a problem... Thanks for nothing Beth.

I've had the closing at launch problem a few times myself. More often now mine just stops responding. Usually after about 5-10 minutes of work. It's getting really frustrating. It's getting to the point where I just want to give up.

This isn't a once in a while thing with mine. It's conststant. Every time I try to launch it it instantly closes. I've tried reinstalling, launching directly from the exe, verifying file integrity, everything I can think of.

Edit: by forcing my PC to use nearly all of my ram I managed to slow down the launching enough to read what it's doing. at the bottem it says "Initializing Windows" just before it closes/crashes. Thought maybe that might help.(Although that probably could have been figured out by someone with knowledge of how the CK works if this forum had allowed me to link my video...)

Still looking for help with this. Would really like to start modding with CK but can't because of this one issue.

It is uploaded at youtube, the problem is whenever I try to link the video this site returns "You are not allowed to post links on this forum." Even when I don't use the url tags it detects the link & doesn't allow me to post... =\

Also I'm wondering if this might be caused by my skyrim being installed on my F drive instead of my C drive, but it shouldn't matter because it installed directly to my skyrim directory... I've tried everything I can think of. It crashes at "initializing windows" every time. :(

If anyone else has this problem removing d3d9.dll and FXAA.dll from my skyrim folder seems to have fixed it. Not sure why they would mess with it to begin with, but I'm happy to have it working now! :D
