criticism

It's really hard to have any complaints about this game yet considering it's not running on my console right now. However, I will be very dissapionted if New Vegas has as many bugs as FO3. Although the this provided for some good laughs as the Ranger Lady ran away from me at random and I could never sell fingers again. Instead of comical moments like this one by accident. I would rather have good laughs that were part of design.

Oh that and I want to see one solid dlc come out. Like an expansion simillar to shivering isles in terms of scale, exct.

Oh and getting stuck in a random spot trying to jump across an area for a shortcut. I hated getting stuck and having no grenades to kill myself or not saving before I got stuck!!! :cryvaultboy:

I love fallout 3. I know new vegas will be great. Lets hope it's so great it can contend against the competetion this year for game of the year. Or at least RPG right?

i want brighters brighter and darkers darker, it was a pain having to have brightness at 3 to see a hint of my shadow, consequently, it was hard to see alot of the time, as turning on your pip boy actually darkens the area outside your lights range

@vyvexthorne i think this time around in new vegas there won't be as many weapons in the world like in fallout 3. Fallout 3 had weapons everywhere just so you could get them to repair your weapons, but Obsidian changed that so you have to repair weapons with the repair kit. Now you get 100% repair with duplicates, cuz weapons "might" be more uncommon in NV. Just a theory of mine though.

EDIT: SpEcTrE, I'm mad that they haven't hired a bigger team to finish both Fallout 4 and TES V at about the same time!!

Now that would actually be good.. In F3 once your repair was up it was pretty easy to keep that gun repaired and in shape because there were so many of that gun about. Of course in F3 keeping a gun repaired was much easier because of exploration.. If you played the game straight through and didn't do much exploration it was a bit more difficult.. I only did one 'fast' run through after my first play to see how high my level would get so I don't really recall how much more difficult it was.

It was mentioned a long time ago. You can see it if you youtube the PS Qore footage, though. Radroach kill in free aim triggers it.

edit: Found the link. Right now I'm getting an error 500 but it should work soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF7Kpb-hSfc

Not to offend console players but honestly I feel VATS is a crutch that was used to allow people to reliably shoot things with slow-aiming joysticks. I never used it in Fallout 3 except just to see what it was like and to exploit it's 90% damage reduction for point blank mirv shots.

What do you mean by this? You'll be able to play just fime. You'll have more problems with the game engine than you ever will with Steam.

OK thanks. Will watch it when/if it buffers.
Yeah, that's why I use PC. Mouse over controller anyday. :goodjob:
Nah, Steam won't work for me full stop at the moment. You can see my thread if you like.

The forums. At this point, the game just needs to come out.... the forums just keep repeating the same junk over and over - "why Steam", "what gun/companion/faction/pre-order do you like best", "iron sights?", "what features do you already hate even though we haven't actually played the game yet", and "how come the CE/pre-order bonuses aren't all available in my local store".

:whistling:

This!

Dammit people, be original with your threads! Don't care how, just stop with the "WTH STEAM?!", "Will there be iron sights?" and "What pre-order did you get"-threads. They're not relevant to my interests.

I'll make some more of my forum famous Lucky 38/Mr.House fanboyism threads just for you then.

I for one am skeptical about getting fallout new vegas after the screw job us playstation 3 owners got with fallout 3 including the dlc always crashing a lot. :swear:

I searched all over for a relevant thread, but all of them were locked.

First, I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the development team for producing another beautiful and exciting Fallout game. I played Wasteland and have followed this line ever since. That should also tell you how old I am. Perhaps too old for these new games. Still, Fallout 3 is a load of fun.

Unfortunately, and with great regret, I will not be purchasing Fallout:Vegas due to the Steam requirement. My past experiences, the lag, the spying, the bogging, the failure to connects, and most certainly Steam's EULA precludes me from ever purchasing any Steam-required game ever again. Just getting Steam off my computer was far more than a simple Add/Remove function.

I wish I could buy your game. My wife wishes she could buy your game. My son wants to buy your game and he literally suffers with Steam, though he claims "it's not that bad." So I suppose 1 of 3 ain't bad.

My sincerest apologies. :(

One thing is the game world doesn't look destroyed enough, and it might be a little too wild west-ish.

I think the verdict is still out on this though.

I'd be a little bummed if there wasn't craftable ammo for explosive weapons. But otherwise this game will be *insert ridiculous amount of praise here*.

... I feel Ghouls in Fallout 3 where way better than the ones on F1/2. I prefer burned irradiated surivors over cliche zombie looks to be honest.
I'm completely of the opposite view here. IMO the Ghoul's http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/Clipboard01-5.jpg in Fallout 1 & 2 appeared to have had been flash burned, have receded and have healed over (with pieces of it healing over very much like http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/earpiercing_stretched_lobe1.jpg after a serious plugs were installed). The FO3 ghouls had none of this and looked nothing like any ghoul in the entire series that came before it.
*and [IMO] it wasn't a visual improvement.

It should be mentioned that to do it right, would require unique heads for all ghouls (modeled without Face-gen), so I can empathize even though I did not like the end result.

/soapbox-on/I would like to complain about all the whiners on the forum that spend all kinds of time here reading about New Vegas, and then trash it as if they actually had Real insight into a game not even released yet. There are some who offer great constructive criticism and actually have insightful things to say, but the majority of the whines and gripes are ignorant and/or un-informed even about the trailers and things posted in the forums. I suppose my disgust at such whining is a pale reflection of what the professionals must think when they read this kind of stuff, and I suspect that's why most of them Don't read forums like this (or stick to specific, safer threads). In 99% of the cases such whining does nothing for the community, accomplishes nothing in the end and certainly won't change the direction of the game. /soapbox-off/

I agree completely.

I think it's silly how you guys say "It's too much like Fallout 3. It needs a fresh start."

Fallout New Vegas is like Fallout 3, Fallout 3 is like Fallout 2, and Fallout 2 is like Fallout 1. They all branch off of each other because they are FALLOUT GAMES. If you want fresh material, look for another end of the world sandbox game. The only difference between any of them is the graphics. They all have vaults, all have killing, all have guns, all have enemies. You can't get too different if you're playing a SERIES.

Bogus. FO3 is but the names and a mascot. There is really nothing else remnant.
(but I'm open to the option of you proving otherwise ~but others will have to be the judge... obviously).

I don't see what there is to complain about - we're 23 days, 2 hours, 45 minutes from a new Fallout game.

It seems like I'm one of the few who are taking it at face value, and just expect the game to deliver. It's gonna be more of what Fallout 3 did, and to me, that is great.

I guess there are some people who can't just be happy with what they are getting.

I think there are going to be too many quests. I'd like about 90% of them removed, and instead a lot of open ended mini quests where you can bring multiples of objects, like books, fingers, scrap metal, bits of technology (I'm just brain storming here) back to characters in exchange for money. I think that would be far more satisfying than actual, proper quests.

That is already known. Apparently you are shot by some gun for hire called "Benny". He comes up later but I forget the info we learned about him. As for the package...
Spoiler
The package contains a platinum poker chip from the Lucky 38.

The spoiler isn't story specific but maybe you want to see what it is for yourself. :)
