Critique this build: Vampire Spellsword

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 10:47 am

This thread, the second of two (so far) looks like it may be a part of a series wherein I design builds and ask for critiques. Obviously, everyone is welcome to use the builds I make and make whatever changes they see fit, and it would humble me if you do so, but the main purpose of this thread is exactly as the title says: to receive critiques.

The first thread blew up pretty fast and then came to a screeching halt since its goal was pretty much reached--I'm not looking for 200+ posts and a series of threads on just one topic/build. I'll link to it here, though, for anyone interested: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1383023-critique-this-build/ I didn't go as much into detail about it last thread, but it was a Nord Barbarian design. I already have another thread (and another build) planned to present, but that will come when we're done with this.

Anyway, thanks for your time and patience, and without further ado, here we are.
--------------------

The race: Dunmer, Altmer and Bretons all culturally suit my tastes for vampirism and all have great bonuses that compliment it.

The perks: http://skyrimcalculator.com/#139669

The stone: The Lord (for more tanking), The Shadow (for more stealth), The Ritual (for Necromancy), or The Serpent (because it suits the playstyle). May switch between them.

The idea:

Bound Sword, poisons and Destruction goodness to kill the crap out of enemies and then raise them to join my cause, with Alteration spells and potions keeping me healthy.

Given the vast utility of potions and poisons, this build can tank pretty easily (especially in conjunction with Alteration) while dishing out the pain with a powerful weapon and strong spells complimented by poisons that can exploit and create weaknesses and/or outright deal damage on their own. With invisibility potions and at least one extensive invisibility power (Embrace of Shadows for three minutes, plus possibly the Shadow stone and another invisibility power available through questing), Fortify Sneak potions and vampirism's bonuses to Sneak, stealth is an option, which is always good to fall back on for getaways.

Restoration isn't necessary for healing options or its offense against the undead, as I am either in control of them or can take care of them easily with fire damage and Fortify Destruction potions (since poison doesn't work on them), but it has its uses, foremost of them being Necromage. Everything gets better with Necromage.

Vampirisim, Necromage, Necromancy and dual casting can amount to more than six minutes of duration for raised dead, not to mention Fortify Conjuration potions that can boost that to even more ridiculous lengths. Recovery is always a good option for a mage and Avoid Death rounds out the build for that "immortal" feeling. Since I'm an avid Magic: The Gathering player, gives me the feeling that the build has the Undying effect from the game, which is a definite bonus. :D

I'm trying to perfect this for Dawnguard. I'd appreciate any criticisms on how to improve this build, and if you like it, then I'd be honored for you to use it for yourselves.

Tell me what you think svcks! :foodndrink:
